What's the funniest thing your horse has spooked at???

Speed bumps. These are horrific. War memorials. The coloured flowers are deadly, and any gates that are not silver in colour. But lorries boy racers and bad weather is fine!

Children on a trampoline, clearly scary cause the fence hid the trampoline so all he could see were semi-floating little people :D

My cob spooks all the time but his spooks are just three strides of canter or a slow motion spin so quite funny. He spooks mainly at himself when he trips over his big clumsy feet but also tall flowers, half finished houses with their windows missing or gaps in hedges. He's a daft thing!

A man in the front of his car, lying across the seats with both feet on the floor outside, looking under his dashboard......his t shirt had ridden up revealing an impressive expanse of beer belly. Poor horse went OMG WTF!!! lol

purple flowers - particularly if only a small bunch or a single flower
clover patches
patches of diff coloured grass
blue tits
food waste bins
parked cars
stomping on crackly leaves
twigs
puddles

need i go on - shes just a spooky mare!

Dock leaves and odd coloured blades of grass are terrifying... And today he spooked at nothing at all and tried to run off at a 90 degree angle to the track. Only problem was that there was a holly tree in the way! Luckily for me he was stopped by two thick branches and had to do a quick reverse before stopping and looking sheepish. My friend on the horse behind was pee-ing herself laughing at him.

I've ridden a couple of horses that have spooked at their own farts - it never fails to make me cry with laughter!!

My boy isn't very spooky at all, but recently he had a spook and a snort at some sheep... when he was turned out in the same field as sheep all winter! Must have been a different type of sheep or something!
A friends horse also did a major spook and sat down because they saw a foal! horses are weird!

Mines always been really good
We can go past Diggers, flashing lorries, boy racers etc.
But Swans (now they're scary apparently lol!)
She had an epic fit upon seeing one a few years back
I managed to stay on luckily
did make me giggle a bit though!

I was out hacking on D and he is quite inquisitive. There was something pale coloured in the verge he yanked his head down to look at it and shot backwards at 100mph. Friend got off her horse to have a look as D was going crazy, turned out it was a vibrator!!!!! It was vibrating and he had touched his nose on it!!! SO SO embarrasing :o :o

There are no smilies to depict me rolling on the floor laughing so just imagine it :D

Comet's finest moment came when a rather long branch became stuck in his tail. Upon seeing said branch he shot at 100mph down the road with me creased over his back laughing and my friend screaming at me to sit up before I fell off xD Every time he saw the branch, he would bounce around and try to run and I couldn't get off him to retrieve it because if I'd let go of him in the process we wouldn't have seen him again xD Friend had to stand on the branch whilst I walked pony forward in the end xD

spook 1...............riding along a country lane with ditches either side, we meet a motorbike coming the other way, i move onto the verge, motorbiker decideds to be nice and switches off his engine, horse then wakes up as in free wheeling thing slowly coming towards him. jumps sideways into the ditch, we stay up right but the ditch is 1 horse wide and horse belly high. cue ok biker who has got of his bike and is now apologising, we had to then walk up the ditch until it was low enough to get out.

but the best sook i ever saw was at a pony club road safety test day. the field part, when you have to walk round a "road" with stuff in the way. Flo, the dartmoor pony, age at a guess 30-35 ish, lead rein for the kiddies at the riding school. walks round the course..............meets ballons...............cones..........cars.............................but when he mets the wheel barrow and work men, took one look and p***ed of up the field. so the oldest (requires rocket to move) pony is now banded from the road part of the test for being to dangerous to take on the road.

In hot weather the doors to the indoor school are left open with a wide tape stretched across the gap, after a few years the tape was looking the worse for wear so they replaced it. Horse was bog-eyed and doing Totilas impressions trotting passed the door, but only on the right rein, apparently on the left rein it didn't look so scary!

Current horse(as a youngster) found a Goth very scary & had to hide behind his companion, who was 2 hands smaller!
He also ran away from a jogger(v flappy tracksuit bottoms) as a youngster.
In more recent years he had a fright at a show from a pony in a pink rug that was flapping in the wind.
Daffodils & various other flowers are still worrying for him as well as grass on verges when its very long in the middle of summer.
He was also stopped in his tracks when schooling once by a butterfly that flapped in his face.
Previous pone was scared stupid one windy day by a lady with a long skirt that was wafting about in the breeze!

Wind, rain, stopping, starting. Haha!

Bless her.

She only really spooks in the school to be honest, I think she gets bored and decides to liven things up a bit!

x

I had a new one today - my boy was tied up waiting to go on a hack at a different yard and did an excited runny poo on concrete, and spooked at the noise of it splatting on the ground!! Hilarious, what a silly boy.

Mine frequently spooks when the tarmac changes colour on the road....

Writing on the road is the stuff of her nightmares. She's also not a fan of other horses poo on the bridlepath.

I was on a sponsored ride once when my horse spooked at a lady hiding behind a bush breast feeding her baby! She was really offended, after the 3 of us had regained control, when we suggested she might be safer elsewhere.

A yard I used to be on put new tarmac on the yard, for weeks she was a nightmare to get out of the yard and once nearly had me in the muck heap after not wanting to walk on it.

My ARAB mare used to jump white painted STOP letters on the road because she couldn't bear to touch them - guess she couldn't read!
