You're allowed ONE thing, thought I'd make it hard ;)

What is the one thing you can't live without when it comes to horses. It could be a favourite saddle, a type of cream, fly spray, rug anything.

At the moment my 'thing' is Baileys lo-cal balancer. Don't know what's in it or how it works don't care. All I know is since I started feeding my TB it 6 months ago he's got muscles on his muscles, is fit, shiney and calm. Since I've started feeding it I have been able to cut out all his hard feed and all he has is haylage and chaff. His pot belly look has gone, I'm saving tons of money and he is a picture of health.

OK, over to you! :D

My loose ring ns verbind - mare won't go nicely and softly in anything else, this is the only one I have found that she is nice and comfortable in!

My saddle. It's not expensive or anything but I've had it for years and its the best thing ever. I hate riding in any other saddle. LOve love love

Cut and heal!!

It's the only thing I have in my first aid kit apart from purple spray, cotton wool and hibiscrub but it's usually the only thing I need for the majority of injuries :) wonderful stuff!!

Oh and it keeps the flies off a treat (I'm paranoid about sarcoids!!)

Drop nosebands.
Horses seem to always go well in it, and wouldn't be without. I think I have about 5 different sizes ranging from tiny shetland suitable ones to full size. I have collected them over the years, and they are for keeps.

Carr and day and martin Canter mane and tail conditioner. Have gone through gallons of the stuff on my mare's tail- which was about 3 times the thickness of a normal tail.

Johnsons Baby Bath,

A squirt in the water for a wash off (so mild - no need to rinse) or a dollop in the mane for a good scrub session :D Smells devine too!

Collegiate soft padded reins - I wouldn't use anything else for dressage, it's the finest gentlest softest finest rein ever, doesn't slip, doesn't rub, just pure gorgeousness. Makes a world of difference to me :)

Ooo after reading how good you are finding the Baileys low-cal balancer I might have to convert. I was recommended it for my mare :) wasn't sure though, so it can be fed on its own and not needing to be alongside something else?

My personal fave product so far is the mark todd fly spray - it smells very strong but has a nice smell, and seemed to keep the little buggers away from my mare!

FAB things!!

Like the baby bath idea, J has some mud fever scabs at the mo and I hate washing his legs with hibiscrub so im going to get some of this so its nice and gentle on his sores :)

jadelovescassie. Nope don't need to feed it with anything! I feed the reccommended levels with a scoop of hifi. If your horse is working hard then you can use it to top dress reduced levels of concentrate feed but I havent found that Ive needed to do that. It took about 6-8 weeks before I started noticing a difference but once I did, wow! £20 for a bag lasts me 6 weeks :D

Has to be my hackamore.
I'm waiting, with fingers crossed, for my 6 yr old mares lower jaw wolf teeth to erupt before having them removed.
If she has a bit in her mouth, it is so painful for her that she goes very bizarrely bi-laterally lame.

Thankfully the hackamore allows me enough control that I have been able to keep riding her :).

Her teeth are such a rare event that every vet at the practice has had a feel and my friends EDT who was up this week also had a feel :), as it is only the 2nd time she has seen it in her 15 yr career.

She's special my girl :D.

Aloe and Arnica cooling jelly- for any bangs, knocks, swellings etc.

Plaster on, stable bandage over the top and leave for an hour or so... swellings all gone. Has worked everytime!

Arrggghhh this is SO difficult- theres so many things to choose from- i would have to say
their paper bedding as I literally get ill with sinusitis, a blocked nose, sore throat and swollen face and eyes if i dare use anything else!

Can think of loads of other things though!

"My" (it is my mums!) lunge cavesson - it's probably nearly 30yrs old now but it is lovely and padded. My girl lunges fantastically in it, she doesn't like lunging off the bridle.
It's been used on all sorts from 12hh hairies to 16.3 youngsters!

Baileys LoCal is fabulous, have used it on a range of horses/ponies with great results :)
