What's type of horse is your ideal mount?

What is your IDEAL horse (may not be the same as what you have)

I ticked the warmblood option - but although mine is certainly a 'mover' he is not big (15.3) and has about 75% blood, so you would probably count this in your tb/arab group.

A good warmblood has all the talent in the world, along with an easy going temperament, and therefore is my ideal mount. Unfortunately there are a lot of not so good versions about.

I currently have my eye on a graded wb (who is 3/4 tb and 1/8 arab) but will only make 14.1; not sure which category he would fit in to :D

i dont like arabs and love TBs, yet I also have an anglo arab, go figure lol. It would be a poorer world if we all liked the same thing

Nothing for me I see :D
Voted for cobs though if you mean Vanners...can't beat them except for a cob mule LoL

In an ideal world I'd have something different for each day of the week, barring a plod, plodding just doesn't do it for me, although no offence to those who enjoy plodding :D

I ticked the warmblood box, my lad is WB X ISH but just looks like a big, chunky TB! Love him, so light in the mouth, forward going and very quick to learn just my cuppa tea :D

i put warm blood as its the closest to the type of horse i like but i like interesting spanish/european rides.
i have a european sport horse (not irish have andalusian in her)
i love freisians, lipisanas and andalusians
i dont like spooky horses but like something interesting to ride

If I could have anything, it would be anything Spanish bred.

If it came down to reality - it would honestly be Sparks. Big, hairy, special and just exactly what I want! :)

Haven't ticked a box....

I have a pretty ideal big Fuzzy:
Irish LW cob type
Basically sensible (brilliant in traffic & taking small ponies on the lead etc)
Can be an outrageous loon on unexpected & also expected occasions, with flashes of great inspiration :D
Could not be sold as bombproof IMHO, unless you like doing daft things sometimes or advanced lateral work.....

Having had plenty of nutters & breakers/schoolers over the years, this Fuzzy ticks my boxes as I just giggle & apply mainly unforgotten but seldom used aids ;) when looney-tunes start to play :D

I love warmbloods and still have one impressive large moving one I also have a stunningly beauiful big moving TB and there is no doult that the TB is less stress on the body to sit on ( allowing for the fact he is young and new to sitting trot )
The truth is I love both and find it hard to chose between them I also have a cob ( Clydesdale / welsh section D ) and a pure Irish draught and I love them two for there different qualities .i would be hard pressed to chose one I love more but I deep down I love a KWPN as I have had such fun with them.

I love arabs but TBs less so. I did have a very nice mainly TB ISH. I like hot and comfy, but sound and made of strong stuff.

I love the big moving warmbloods :) I ride a few at the moment and I love the challenge, and the way they really let you know when you've got it right.

My mare is an anglo arab x ( we think!) My OH ( being from The Netherlands) has always had warmbloods, yet his last warmblood was the most TB looking warmblood ever and a complete contrast to your typical warmblood! :)

Always went for WB's or TB's up until now. I have a fantastic forward-going chunky cob who is amazing to jump and great to have fun with/hoon round the countryside :D
I also have a 5 yr old TB, very laid back and steady, and ride my friend's fabulous Arab gelding, he is completely bonkers but safe, very light in the hand and canters like a rocking horse on speed :D
And I love PRE's :D ........................... so, I don't have an ideal as such any more, just loads of fun on whoever I ride.

Dunno really - think I have to vote TB as my horse of a lifetime is one - but they do break easily and need lotsa work to keep sane! On the plus side though they're nice and 'average' quite often, with the potential to do well in most spheres without the pre-programmed buttons/attitude you get with a warmblood. Much easier on an amateur rider! And given I'm pregnant I probably ought to pick 'nice safe cob' lol. Wouldn't buy an arab, as all the arabs/crosses I've ridden have been very opinionated and not ideal for serious schooling, which I love. Beautiful horses though!

I'm lucky to have ridden my ideal mount but unfortunately I don't own either of them :(.

The best, comfortable ride I've had in the last three months was a 18.2 Bay Shire Horse Gelding (i'm 5ft 2 :D) I rode him on trial and he suited me perfectly. But being 18.2hh he wasn't too practical on a long hack when nature called ;), and I needed to stand on three crates to tack him up.

Second best would be a part loan trial I had - she was a stunning black Shire cross - 14.3hh and was like riding an armchair, her trot was lovely and balanced and perfect for me. She was very well schooled and rode like a pony when she wanted too. Unfortunately her owner wouldn't dream of selling her :(.

My vote is cast on pony - I love their cheeky characters, I hack in woodland so my 14hh Welsh Sec C cross is perfect - no worrying about low branches, narrow paths and I don't need to find a park bench, wall or fence to use as a mounting block :D.

Are you suggesting that as you get older your riding gets worse?

Well as you get older you get stiffer and you are less strong. So yes, I believe that generally speaking you become less effective as a rider. This is not too apparent on easy lighter horses, but with big powerful warmbloods it can prevent a person from being able to ride them to their full potential.

I said pony. Even though I have a TB and have always loved my TB's, as I am getting older I just wanna have a pony to run amok on!!!

My perfect horse was my old boy. He was just under 15hh, big moving for his size, had those perfect little pony ears and could buck like a monster just because he felt like it :D. He was absolutely a champion in my eyes (no, we never competed!) and we knew each other inside out. Miss him like mad :o

I read the comment "Are you suggesting that as you get older your riding gets worse?" and I say yes, my reasoning is that its because as you age you no longer bounce when you hit the deck!!!

WELSH SEC D - to me the worlds most versatile horse:p
I prefer a shorter length of rein, bit of bounce and not tooo far from the ground.

I love a modern lighter weight "hot" warmblood, with really loose athletic paces. I've posted this vid before, because I am totally in love with this horse, and find myself going back and watching the video just for the sheer pleasure of seeing him in action. Absolute equine perfection, in my eyes.

What I really needed was multiple choice as I like big ponies as well as Thoroughbreds and big moving Warmbloods. Am hoping to combine all three in my next horse. A big Thoroughbred of Warmblood type with the determined attitude of my Highland Pony. Not likely but a person can only try.

Arabs all the way for me, although love TB's too! However no way they should be combined, so many tb people hate arabs!
I like a big moving forward thinking go anywhere horse, preferably no bigger than 15.2, so it has to be an arab. Plus they have o have a temper to match mine.
Would never have a cob, and only ride them if I'm getting paid.
