My 14hh Irish cob! Just wish he was you gee so we could have the last 14 years all over again!
My new one will Calm but athletic, I'd like a dun around 15hh.

I like ihatework's horse. Just fab!

I think I ended up with my ideal mount, my ideal horse since a child BUT for some reason not what I actually wanted to buy...thank goodness I did buy him.

A solid middleweight non-cob 15.2 crossbred gelding with a leg at each corner, a heart of gold, with a bit of spark and a sense of fun. I would prefer a non-grey next time though.

I love a modern lighter weight "hot" warmblood, with really loose athletic paces. I've posted this vid before, because I am totally in love with this horse, and find myself going back and watching the video just for the sheer pleasure of seeing him in action. Absolute equine perfection, in my eyes.

Gorgeous! You would think that a bald man would wear a hat though!

I put TB or Arab type. Purely because I am a total 8 stone weed with artheritis in my skinny wrists and I cant ride anything that is too strong or heavy and I have to have something fairly sensitive. My 16.1 TB really is as much horse as I would want. My last 3 horses have been TB's and a PBA. Before that I had a TBXID and while she was lovely she was just a little too chunky for me.
All the horses iv'e had have been a similar type l/w types, that not too say I wouldn't have a WB but i'd probably go for the finer lighter smaller ones, the ones that have a fair bit of TB and arab in them anyway!
I love all horses though, they are all beautiful IMO :).

I love a nice id or id x something with a little bit of meat about it! The id i know (and i have 2 id x) all have lovely temperaments and can do anything!

One thing i hate though is people saying that because your an adult or tall you need a big 16.2 or bigger! Im 5,7and lost count of the people who told me i need a big horse - mine are 15.2+ 15.3 they dont understand that i dont want a monster sized one!!

Ponies all the way - would love a connie!

At the moment I have a TB and a cob (who is a sometimes whizzy plod!)

There is a theory that baldness is accelerated/exacerbated by an overheated scalp so perhaps he isn't wearing a hat because he doesn't want to get more bald! ;)

I think it's great that he's loud and proud about his follicular disappearance.

First pony was a leg in each corner Heinz 57- WON lots despite him not being a pretty show pony type

My first horse was an Irish TB- tried to kill me at first but had a third leg and got me out of numerous fixes.

First share was 17hh Roan warmblood- happiest out and about- but lazy sod

Current share is short fat hairy cob- who listens, learns and is my Dressage pony in the making (Really she can move!!)- so I am now in the "Posh Cob" camp- which was not an option in the poll!!

My ideal type seems to change - about every 10 years I think!

As a child, obviously it was ponies and I was into my gymkhana's - although i was never good enough to make the prince philip cup team!

Then, as a teenager/early twenties I was into hunting and eventing and my best horses were TBs, and I also had a shire x Tb who was a brilliant hunter!

Then as I was leaving home and starting work (in mid 20s), the horses were getting aged and I had less time, so the old boys would be hacked out at the weekends.

Now (in my 30's) the old boys have passed away, and I have sort of lost the fearlessness I had when I was in my teens/early twenties. I don't have any desire to jump large solid fences anymore. I now have a 17hh, big moving warmblood that I do dressage on :)

In 10 years time my WB will be getting on in years, so will hopefully be a lot quieter than he is now, an then when I'm in my 50's I might get a nice plod a long cob?? :D:D:D

See, whilst I can see that is an excellent example of what it is, I just don't "get" it. If someone offered me one, I would smile and wander off looking bemused  Beauty is totally in the eye of the beholder :D

Either that or he hates his appearance so much, he feels he has nothing to lose and is trying to commit suicide subconsciously :p

Agreed - different strokes for different folks. It would be no fun if everyone liked the same type of horse - no opportunities at all for banter!

It would also mean a lot more competition for the sort of horse you want  Think how much more a horse like that one would cost if literally everyone wanted one :o

Too right! I have a sneaky suspicion that he was probably a teeny bit over my budget anyway. Maybe I should suggest long term loan if he ever comes up for sale again!

None of the above :)

I like a 16hh+ mount, not a fan of warmbloods per se, more of a hunter type lover.

If I had an unlimited budget I'd have an Iberian.

Good luck with that... He'll be re-advertised due to a timewaster, y'know :D

I wouldn't mind an iberian, not that I could ride one side of one (seriously, riding half a horse would be really unbalancing )... So I'll stick with highlands, and there's no highland on youtube who I would prefer to my own. I'd rather be able to ride him properly and do him justice than swap him for a higher spec model :o

Lovely Lovely Lovely

Or cow print? I do like a nice quality coloured, and it would be quicker than a full body respray...

Isn't she just gorgeous? Scopey, well moving, and so rideable and pretty. A real testament to her breeding lines. My cunning plan is to have a go at breeding myself one just like her ;) I have the right mare and now on a quest for the right stallion :o

PS. Before anyone jumps on me, I know that breeding is not as straightforward as designing a car ;)

Don't tell anyone - but I really like your Highland. He looks like really good fun!
