Whats your competition aims for next year?!

Where are you? We are busily arranging pegging clinics! :D

Yorks - there is a guy up the road from me who is very into his tent pegging (Peter Craven) so will ask him about it if my horse becomes sound enough! Could I start that in walk/trot and work up from there?

Whats horseback archery? How hard is it? I did some polocrosse in PC with my last horse at a rally, but my rubbish hand eye coordination meant that the poor horse took the brunt of it, not that he seemed to notice

Will also be wanting a go at horseboarding if I can too (the OH is up for it!), essentially I want to do anything thats on grass, in a straight line that doesn't involve jumping :)

All things I'd also like to have a go at too. Might look slightly out of place on my little pony though :o

Competitive aspirations next year, generally... With the little highland one, play horseball in the novice league, crack on with a few more novice tests, maybe a little 75-80cm hunter trial, start getting round sj courses that are more than poles on the ground, if we can do that maybe a little event if he's fit enough... Oh and survive a full trec on him.

With the old boy, qualify for Trec nationals at L2 (yea right) and a bit of horseball if the pony doesn't get the hang of speed in time :D

Yes he's very into it and is the chairman of the BTA - there are 2 juniors and a new guy in Yorkshire that all want to train. Plus our top man is based in Yorkshire too, so quite a few! They need to get some clinics organised

You start off on a hay bale to learn, then in walk and progress from there. First sessions are very easy on the horses :D Key thing is to get you safe with dummy weapons first

Haven't really got into horseback archery, but basically you are in a run (penned in) with no reins trying to hit a target

No reins, that sounds excellent! Will have to look more into that.

Maybe I should contact Peter then and see whats happening in the new year (as want to make sure my horse is a bit sound before I do anything, if he doesn't become sound, the 25 or 27yo might find they come out of retirement :D )

Not sure if I should be trusted with weapons, might be safer to leave me with the dummy ones :D

Well pegging is the old horse sport - two of our GB horses will be 24 next year!!

Definitely harass Peter, as would be great to get some yorkshire sessions going!

You'll be hitting pegs with pointly objects before you know it!!

Start early next year, so that you get ready for Royal Windsor in May.

That would be brilliant - will have to see how my sister feels if I end up robbing her little brown pony for the job if my horse doesn't come sound. Hopefully I'll see him out hacking in the next few weeks and I'll ask him then, if not I'll go round. I know him, but don't really know him if you know what I mean :o :D

Love these threads!!! :D

My aim is to become a much better rider!!

Dancer's aims:
To join BD with her and qualify for the regional novice and go.
Have our first go at a couple of elems.
Be schooling comfortably at medium level.

Rowan's aims: He is 5 years old so:
Have a go at some young dressage classes with him.
Compete well at prelim and get good scores and maybe have a go at some novice's half way through the year or something.
Do some more jumping and have a go at some jumping comps.

Lola's aims: she will be 4 years so:
Back her properly!!
Have a go at our first ridden showing classes.
Qualify for some big shows again and go.
Do some showjumping classes with her.
And hopefully sell her unless I decide I couldnt possibly :P

I would really like our little Halling 4-year old ex-racehorse to do the BYEH classes next year. I would like it even more if I am able to buy another little grey TB ex-racehorse 4-year old to run along-side him. I would like to compete my big black horse, Kallie, at Carlton next year - my favourite event and my favourite horse ;)

I'm going to work really hard on our flatwork over winter and so my aim is to enter some low level dressage in January.
I think it's great to have something to focus on over winter, hopefully it'll make it go quicker and it'll be spring before I know it!!
Also hoping to go to a couple of horse camps to work on XC, SJ and dressage.
Nothing major to most but to me it's a lot

Rio-

Do well at medium dressage, posssssibly adv medium towards the end of the year.
Get round an ODE without being eliminated XC!!

Kaiser-

Prelim and Novice Dressage- would like to qual for winter regionals novice.
1 or 2 BE 80's and possibly BYEH 4 year olds.

Luce - I have most of yours:

To qualify for the Blenheim 2012 Trizone Comp
To compete in a BE100plus!
To compete at Aldon 3 Day

And quite a few more:
Qualify for more than one BE90 RF
Qualify for Badminton Grassroots 2013 (not sure if his dressage will ever be good enough but gonna work damn hard at it!)
Maybe qualify for a BE100 RF? (not sure if that's getting a bit ambitious)
Have some more confident runs at BE100. Would really like to do the 100 at Highclere. Did want to do Longleat as well but obviously that's off the cards now. Would be nice to go to a few of the bigger events though.
BRC Champs at Intermediate

And at pure dressage:
Area Festivals Prelim and Novice and if things go our way then maybe the Finals 2013 - he was only 3% off this yr and I'm planning on our dressage being much better next yr!

And finally if we get a chance I would love to try a few open working hunter classes with him just for something different to do!

Think we'll be busy again :D

Given up setting aims for Eventing! But Dressage wise i'd really like to have a crack at a Medium! Maybe an Advance Medium - all being well of course! This would be the ULTIMATE achievement in 2012! Sadly though, getting into Uni has slightly overtaken my equine aims ;)

It ages since I've been able to get on here, love reading everyone's aims, good post!

Mine are:
- to be able to do the premier leagues on baker at AM and prepare for small tour the following year
- compete lindt at medium and get him confident in his changes
- qualify lindt and baker for the nationals
- to do an advanced 100 on digby before he retires
- get the babies out at novice
- be consistently in the 70's
- and just keep working hard and improving i guess is most important, the olympics are going to be so inspiring!!
