Hi Everyone!

Whilst we are all stuck at home with no holidays in sight what would be your dream horsey holiday if money/time was no object?

I'll go first - I would love to experience a proper western style ranch just because it is so different to anything I have done before but after that I would love to go to India and ride a Marawi(sp?) horse!

Your turn! Bonus points if you have been on someone else's dream holiday and can share piccies :)

South America would be amazing. And I am with you on just having some time here. I would love to go stay in a good hacking area for a week with my own horse right now too!

I did a riding tour of the Azores which was amazing and would really recommend! I want my next one to be a riding tour of Costa Rica and to go to the Monte Velho resort in Portugal (and pick a Lusitano foal for me ?).

I already have one Luso so absolutely do not trust myself to go to Portugal! Do you have any pictures to share of your ride in the Azores? An issue for me before going on holiday is knowing whether the horses are treated/kept well or not D:

I've ridden in Costa Rica, though wasn't a riding holiday, and it was lovely!

I've been on a couple of riding safaris in South Africa and absolutely loved it. I've also ridden in New Zealand and Egypt, though not on specific riding holidays
Next on the list are Iceland, Patagonia and taking my mule trekking around various different places in Europe- definitely Spain, maybe Italy and Croatia.

Next on my list would be Patagonia, Kazakhstan, and Madeira. I have ridden in some incredible places though. I found a gorgeous place in Hungary the your lady who ran it had such a lovely ethos and as I went so out of season we just bombed around as the two of us exploring ? probably one of my favourites.
I bore people silly with Mongolia, NZ. I worked in a lovely place in Galicia and a working holiday with an old HHOer in Tuscany all fantastic experiences. Does make me a bit sad how anxious I am about hacking in the UK these days though.

We got caught in an hail storm in Mongolia up high, I was so glad I had packed my extra thick snow gloves. I have never been so cold in my life! My tent had such a thick layer of ice and hail on it it looked like it had been sat on by an elephant.
@TheMule I love your mule trekking idea I'd love to do something like that.

I would love a horse riding safari in Africa. Also a proper ranch holiday.

I went to Patagonia with WHW (then the ILPH!) back in about 2002 I think, was amazing. Also been on a few XC training holidays in the UK and Ireland (Castle Leslie).

Sounds amazing! and I hardly go hacking here anymore due to too many close calls on the roads :( luckily I have a big field to ride round in and a trailer to go to the beach but don't get out as much as I would like!

I’ve been so lucky, I’ve done Argentine to Chile across the Andes (incredible), New Zealand (that was a cheat as I worked as a guide there), Namibia (fantastic fast riding and n stunning horses), South Africa (great horses but two big falls), Madeira (wouldn’t do that again, lovely people but horse was so switched off and bored). And a camel in India (I’ll stick to horses!)

I’d love to ride in Uganda, or with the migration in Kenya, but after having two horses fall on us (mine and my partners) in South Africa I’m much more twitchy about riding around predators or grumpy herbivores now!

I'm loving all these amazing photos! I admit that I have never heard of Maderia, Ill have to look into it :)

Madeira is a ridiculously beautiful place, I absolutely loved it. Toured it by car and by motorbike but the horse ride was really dull, we just walked and I could have walked it faster on foot (I can’t tolerate slow walking) and I felt pretty guilty as my horse was just fed up. They were well loved though, all barefoot too.

I had really bad concussion, lasted a good few months. My partners fall looked even worse, his horse almost did a front somersault with him at the canter. He did well to get back on and keep riding. His trust in horse common sense is gone though (he’s not a rider, but a good sportsman)
