Ginger! I currently have two, one fairly bright orange, and another who is a little darker. Would love to add a liver chestnut to my little herd one day.
I don't really mind what colour they are, although have a few I would avoid, I seem to have ended up with 3 chestnuts, 1 very bright orange with flaxen mane and tail plus plenty of white, the other two are darker, 1 is not quite liver but is almost at certain times of year, they were not picked for colour, in fact the bright one was bought to sell 25 years ago, I think I have left it too late now one was gifted to me so colour was irrelevant.
I love my chestnut's colouring. A light dapply liver ish chestnut (goes dark/liver in winter, deep orange in summer) with a flaxen mane and a darker tail. His hair kind of matches mine too, although mine is artificial!
And a blaze.
Find his colour hard to describe. Orangey.
Basically I'm a sucker for an orange horse though. Usually end up with greys so was pleased to pick up a chestnut this time.
Really dark bay with a white stripe, just like one of my mares.
I also love dun and buckskin (have a dun Highland), black and proper leopard spot appaloosa
I always wanted a black. I’ve now got one black, two black and white, one white and one chestnut roan . IThere’s a horse near me it’s very dark liver chestnut with a very blonde mane and tail and is just stunning.
Anything phenotypically white with mostly pink skin is good fun. I like freckly noses. I have a fewspot and I know a greyed out leopard spot and I think both are very pretty. (might be a bit biased.)
I like my new forest's colour. She's reddish brown with black mane and tail in winter and orange in the summer. (The genetics nerds will kill me for the way I described that lol!)
Champagnes and double pearls and unusual and eyecatching but some things in combination are cool too - we looked after a flaxen chestnut roan with splash white for a little while. She had ice-blue eyes and a pink nose as well.
ETA - as you might have guessed I like lots of colours haha, can't choose a favourite.
Buckskin or dun just love them and you never get a bad one (bet that’s a complete surprise looking at my profile pic ) lol ? and yes I particularly bought her because of her colour ( although she also had to move well and have talent )
I love the mouse/dapple type duns (or is that buckskin?) with black points and a nice star I'd melt over!
Also like the dark coats, so black or very dark brown. I've had more dark browns than any other, seem to suit them!
