winter seems to be on its way early and my lad is fluffing up already... didnt do him til oct last year, but thinking i might have to have a go soonish...
I am lucky, lucky, lucky as I have a 12 year old WB gelding who has only been clipped once in the five years I've had him and even then it was a total waste of time as I only got about a mug full of fur of him! I am not sure why he doesn't grow a coat but I am glad he doesn't. When he had his first course of Tildren in November last year for his bone spavin it took until March for his coat to grow back where he had his injection site clip on his jugular vein!!! He did look funny.
my girl is moulting!!! its 28c today and has been over 20c every day for weeks now. I think she started to get her winter coat and has now changed her mind!!!

Wide variation between the orange boys - NF pony looks quite fluffy but the big dutchman looks relatively smooth but losing some coat. Desperately hope to avoid clipping until Sept when they come in at night as hay is pretty short and damn expensive!
Think I will have to clip this weekend (nightmare). We can't even have a canter round the stubble without sweating buckets and he just looks uncomfortable in this heat. Bonus is though, he generally has his summer coat in by March
The pony is looking decidedly fluffy already - but she isn't in hard work this year. Last year by September I had already had to clip her - but I don't think that I will need to this year hopefully.
My mare is still looking very summery - so hopefully she won't need to be clipped until right before opening meet (fingers crossed!)
