I got a job in an office. My boss was into horses and had a couple and it seemed like a great situation.

However.

One day I discovered some files which were about a livery yard. It had things like:

7:00 change rugs

7:05 feed horses

7:30 turnout horses

8:00 muck out horses

9:00 John brown lesson on Buttons

10:00 Ffionwinnie lessons on Corrie

And so on.

It also had lists of fields each horse was in and who rode each horse.

The scary bit was this was all make believe and the livery yard, horses and rider did not exist (other than Ffionwinnie was me and Corrie was my horse!) and my boss was a nutter/fanaticist in her 30s.

Just thought I'd share :D

Sounds like the Scottish admin lady in the hospital on the conedy programme Green Wing(she's totally irreverently bonkers,if you've not seen it;) )

She made my life complete hell for 5 years and we ended up on the same livery yard together at one point  (she came to mine). Bullied me mercilessly in the office and I left and went self employed. She then turned on another longer serving member of staff who also left with stress (not officially). Then she went off sick and they discovered something (not horsey think much much worse!) on her computer and she got dismissed!

It was pages and pages of it by the way and I was one of the main characters along with my horse.

Ooh, this sounds like a fun waste of time in the office! Mine will read as follows:

7am turn out Frankel and Totilas
7.30 lesson with Carl Hester
8am work on design for new xc course with Zara
8.30 source new young showjumper with Geoff Billington

And et cetera!

Come on ladies, that's so unfair. Shysmum and I were lambased for inferring troll membership of a certain poster.
I'm sure a photo or two would help clear up any misunderstanding.

Ha ha sadken. So I should be proud I was there having instruction from her then :D

No not called Tam.

I actually photocopied some of it and probably have it somewhere.

It was the sort of thing you did when you were 9 and horseless...

Not following you horse rider, are you saying I am a troll or she was?

Could you make up something this ridiculous?

At the time I thought it was pathetic and she was mad and now I think she was disturbed!

Ladies - is it a full moon? A few of you are full of mischief tonight

I will leave you to your fun, but when you are of the older variety you know there is quite a bit of truth in the OP of the other thread - and I would suspect a lot of hunters are still kept in that regime

Enjoy your thread:p But be kind

Wow thats proper crackers. Poor lady to fill her life with that

I do admit I had to have words with myself for having a brief fantasy in the car on the way home from work today about buying the tumbledown Matthews Riding School in Kent and imagining how I would restore and use it

Hit reality pretty quickly on turning in to the driveway of my terraced house anyway lol

Oh we were having a carry on on the thread about how horse owning has gone to the dogs compared to how horses were kept 30-40 years ago and the list of stable tasks reminded me of this situation with my ex boss and I thought I would post about it on this thread!

I am normally completely serious so am surprised one silly thread has wiped out any credibility I had!

I was knocking around in the 60's and horse welfare has moved on thankfully. Anyone remember Fistula Withers ? Now quite a rarity but used to be seen on hunting yards. Horses with colic, navicular etc were more likely to be shot than rehabilitated and horses over 20 yrs still in work were an exception.
Also remember bad saddle sores ?

Wasn't better horse care in the good old days, just different.

FfionWinnie, I have to ask.. did she also trot and canter instead of walking? Practice dressage tests in her office?

Not sure whether to feel sorry for her or worried by her

Goldenstar I beg your forgiveness for whay Ffion said about Perkins and friends. It's Winnie speaking now and of course it's all true.

:eek::D

just when I thought the last forty odd years were a ghastly dream and I had awoken ( wrapped of course in a gold striped blanket ) and all was well with the world I find it's make believe , boohoo call nanny .
