Pictures When loaning turns to owning.

What an uplifting, heartwarming story! Here's wishing you and YOUR Archie (who is also a very lucky Cobbus to have someone who loves him so much) many many years of fun and happiness together!

Thank you all very much - he's wonderful. And he has a secure future - she has first refusal in the (highly unlikely) event he would be sold and I would like to send him back to her on livery whenever he needs to retire so he can be in fields and with people he knows.

However he DOES need the vet out - please keep your fingers crossed it doesn't end up being anything major! (though I insured him to the hilt!)

Congratulations to becoming a horse owner!

Fingers crossed the problem is something the veterinarian can easily fix, so you soon can take your first gallop on your very own horse.

Condragulations!!! That is so lovely!!! Woohoo... yes I think I would feel I’d won the lottery too xx

That's put a smile on my face on an otherwise gloomy morning. You've obviously showed your love and care for him in such a way that his former owner didn't want him anywhere else. Fantastic! Fingers crossed the vet visit goes well.

How lovely. Wishing you many years of happiness together.

P.S. Don't want to put a downer on things but if you've only just insured him, double check how long you need the policy to be running before you can make a claim. It's normally two weeks so if he can wait that long for the vet it might be for the best.

Thank you for thinking of this and taking time to type it out - much appreciated. And in 99% of cases would be so true too.

It's not standard but his owner and I agreed I'd take out the insurance right when we started this so he's had a policy for a couple of years. She's named on it as the owner, so I'll have to get that changed this week - as soon as I have a bill of sale in my hot, sticky hand!

Perfect, I was hoping it would be something like this.

Thanks for the vet vibes, it obviously worked.

I need to get the report from the vet to go through the detail - in summary he's stiff most places to varying degrees but not lame. There may well also have been field shenanigans as the horse he's out with is known to push others around.

He's been on boswellia for a few days and been kept a little warmer at night (usually a very hot horse) with a waffle rug or a Snuggy on. It's already made a difference. We'll do the boswellia trial till the next shoeing, have physio and see how it goes.

I'm going to talk to YM about increasing turnout hours when possible, and I will ride in the evenings till then, rather than mornings, to maximise his time moving. If that doesn't work we'll reassess.
