when will this end

My boys look so miserable this morning. My lovely sandy soil just can't cope with the rain, its not deep mud but standing water and really slippy in the gate ways. They are using the new shelter but the roof has sprung a leak and that can't be fixed until it dries out. Luckily its over one side. I can't remember us having rain this continuously that year - I'm sure we had a few dryish days in between.
 
My fields were completely flooded this morning, under about a foot of water (over my wellies). We have had this before and it will drain away by this afternoon, but to say I am fed up with this rain is an understatement! The horsies are happily munching hay in their field shelter, oblivious to the biblical happenings outside. More rain forecast for tonight and the weekend. Tried to post a picture, but only have 4k video so a bit too large :D
 
Its dry here today and was dry yesterday. Poured overnight tho. However forcast is dry for a week now so heres hoping. Hacking has become going for a walk only. Field is wet of course but they are out every day, only been in 2 days this winter. Our yard does seem slightly less swamp like than other local yards. No grass in field and not allowed hay out, they get adlib hay overnight tho. Robin seems quite happy to go out but ready to come back in at 3pm.

I’m the same. Haven’t ridden for all December as after mucking out four after work it’s too dark to ride. They only came in ten times last winter.
 
Seems to be fairly dry here today, some spitspotting here and there. Supposed to rain tomorrow afternoon, dry sunday, rain monday and then long term is giving it dry for a little while, and whilst I hope to god that it's right, I'm not holding my breath.
I'm going to section off/horse proof the yard tomorrow, so I can at least give them some dry ground to use if they desire. With a little brainstorming, I might be able to give them a channel from the field gate to the empty stable too, without getting in anyone's way.
 
Torrential here all day again, an inch and a half of rain so far and it’s still going. Horses have stayed in today as it’s just so wet and horrible. They don’t seem to mind though! Just want it to stop now, the constant rain has prevented me from feeling particularly festive!
 
My YO asked me to turn my 2 out on a different paddock today because mine is under water. Hasn't had horses on it for months but still ankle deep in water / mud. Happy horses oblivious to the rain and stuffing themselves full of grass. It'll be churned into mush by Sunday I think.
 
We have feet of stone topped with loamy clay, it is so absolutely saturated now that I've got 3 inches of water gushing past my stables and the school is a lake. And theres another week of this forecast. I've been ok until this week but I'm getting towards the end of my tether with it all now!

We have fantastic drainage at our yard & it's on the top of a hill so the water drains away well but this year the ground cannot take anymore. The rain just keeps coming, the paddocks are saturated, the car park has huge puddles & the horses are going to have to stay in their stables for a while as they will injure themselves in the slippery paddocks & walkways or one of us will be hurt slipping & falling whilst leading horses. I've never known it like this.
 
Does anyone follow the track system Facebook group? Seriously need to consider that if this is what climate change looks like..
 
I’ve had to start giving my older horse a bute a day. He was so creaky and slow walking in the mud. I’m lucky like many we have shelter and hay but locking him up won’t help. It’s just vile. South coast where we normally escape extremes.
 
Ok I feel guilty now, my 24 yr old Warmblood is out in the day and in at night which he is happy with. My Shetland is out 24/7 has lots of grass. Do you think I should bring the Shetland in?
 
Well, I managed to get there and back, but it wasn't without it's drama! My normal route was still impossible due to the river being over the road in two places, and I was about 5 mins from the farm on a back road I never normally use when someone stopped me going the other way and said I wouldn't get my car (citroen C1) through up ahead as the road was flooded. Well I decided to go up and actually have a look, and although the whole road was covered and it looked like it could be deep, when I got my wellies on and waded through, it was only ankle height, so that wasn't a problem and I was able to drive through. But the worst moment was due to other drivers being inconsiderate idiots! I was on a B road coming up to a dip in the road that was full of water, but worse on the other side than on my side. So I slowed down (which I thought was sensible) and was half way through when a van and a land rover came from the other direction, barely slowing down at all even though the water was all across the road on their side and looked fairly deep. Well, the splash from their vehicles was so bad that it engulfed my entire car, I couldn't see a thing and had to slam on the breaks and some of it must have gone up my exhaust pipe as my poor engine started spluttering! Good job I'd slowed right down or it could have caused a nasty accident as I couldn't see a thing, it was like I'd just driven through a waterfall!

I'm just the same, have been managing to stay positive and still enjoying the horses but this week I've just had enough ☹️ I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel...

My Shetland is out 24/7, he'll only come in when there's no where dry for him to sleep or no where to get out of constant mud.
 
I felt bit more positive this am as bright sunshine and fair few dry days in the forecast. Turned my boys out for their daily swim thinking maybe then can stay out all day today, sun shining etc. By 2pm it was pissing down again (not forecast) and still raining now ?

I had fully intended to rug Fatty on Thursday morning before the deluge began but she came in plastered in wet mud so I had to leave her.
She was so sodden this morning, her thick winter coat just became soaked through, so even though she was toasty warm on her clipped bits she was shivering violently.
Luckily we had gone for hydrotherapy/for me to work so whilst I finished up on the yard she stood in the solarium and had a warm grass nut mash. Pony is more pampered than me.
Gutted she got that way :(

Don’t feel gutted? she is a horse with an internal heating system. She’s not thinking about what’s passed. Guilt is a human condition.
