When will you be turning out 24/7?

As title!
I've got a very good doer and currently debating when I'm going to but him out 24/7. We're very lucky and our fields are not trashed and our summer field has grass but not crazy amounts.
 
Ours have also been out 24/7 for a few days now - they are still on the winter paddocks and am giving them haylage as need the bale finished. Once the bale is eaten they will go onto the summer paddocks, probably the beginning of next week.

The summer paddocks have some new growth alraedy so need to get them on it before the grass gets too good!
 
Yesterday! I have to say he didnt look very impressed when I left him out but he survived. He is still getting hay at night as he never swaps from winter to summer grazing and I want him to keep on top of the grass growth, not too much coming through just yet so he does need the top up but any day now there will be a growth spurt.
 
I can tell our grass is coming through as ours aren't waiting by the gate to come in, intact they walked in the opposite direction when I went to catch them this eve!! And I had to leave mine out for longer because he wouldn't let me catch him!!
 
Jealous! Id love to leave mine out, I literally have to drag them in at night- even rattling feed buckets brings no hint of interest at coming in. However its going to be a while yet as all 3 of my paddocks are absolutely wrecked due to my fence breaker horse letting them free range daily.
 
Ours are out now :) ive finally perked up as the suns been out for a few days, ponies are enjoying it too. Grass coming through but we are giving them hay too.

Should be out 24/7 beginning of April hopefully. They are currently out for part of the day (weather permitting) in a field with a reasonable amount of grass in it. Both are good doers, so 5-6 hours grazing is plenty at the moment! Although, if the field has loads of grass in it when they go out 24/7 I will be sorting out getting some of it fenced off so they don't get too fat. :rolleyes:
 
My two have been out 24/7 all winter bar 2 nights when I went out and their rugs were inflating due to the wind...
 
I never ever turn out twenty four seven , personally I can see no point in owning a horse if it's in a field all the time .
Sometime during April I swop to turning them out at night and bringing them during the day so they come in between eight and nine and go out between two and whenever the flys stop if it's the fly season I never leave my horses out to be pestered by flys .
 
When the fields dry up a little!! My boy will move onto his Summer paddock as have to watch his grass intake being EMS. He'll be out over night and come in during the day for a few hours, so it will be poo picking season then! -

With a little luck it won't be too long before the change over, possibly by the end of the month :)
 
Hopefully at the end of the month! Although he will then stay in during the day until spring grass has depleted!
 
My TB is out at night, not on grass though. I have about 1 and a bit acres.

An acre grass and the other bit is hardstanding, so I have electric fenced off the hard standing and she has been on that for a good few weeks with haynets.

I only bring her in if it's chucking it down with rain, I wouldn't want to be all wet and soggy all night so why should she.

Guess it just depends what turnout you have avaliable because if I turned out on my grass now she would just sink as it's so wet and then I wouldn't have anything for summer, but on the hardstanding she has space to mooch and a small ish grass patch on the edge to roll and she is happy with her mahosive hay nets each day.
