I feel so guilty for not being able to see my pony in the morning! I cant even make it out to muck her stall or feed her, and so my poor father has to do it for me. I feel so bad for not being able to take care of her in the morning!?Does anyone else feel terrible about not being able to see or care for their horse?

tbh I'd love it if someone else would take over mornings at the moment, zzzzzzzz o_O
Me too. Last time I had a morning off was Sat 21st Dec 19, as we stayed over at husbands work do. Not able to book a holiday this year as timings didnt workaround DH being in and out of his work.

My choice tho, but I'll be sounding out a neighbour about giving her a morning off if she'll do mine in return, in the new year :)

Edit, OP are you not able to do mornings as you are not well perhaps?

I used to feel the pressure a bit when I was on DIY and had to rely on Mum and Dad to help out a bit for work clashes - especially in winter! I felt guilty for Mum and Dad though, not because I couldn't be there.

Pony loved being done by the 'Grandparents' as he let my Mum geniunely believe he couldn't walk out of the stable, to the field and through the gate without a treat for each bit. He would supervise her poo picking until she had to empty out her pockets in front of him to prove they were empty ... at which point, he'd promptly walk off ?

yeah OH points out, helpfully, every time I complain about being tired in the evenings when he got up 3 hours after me... that it's my choice. well it is, but it's not my choice to be spending an extra 1.5 hours medicating the precious pony every morning is it :p needs must!

My daughter doesn’t seem to mind! Not quite sure how I’ve ended up doing hers as well as mine every morning even on the days when I work too. ?

I'm very careful to never ever mention tiredness etc ?
I do however look forward to getting at least 3 or 4 nights away once a year at a minimum, which usually recharges my batteries ?

oh i moan now and then, if I'm yawning at 11 and he says I'm being boring wanting to go to bed... i can't stop myself panic-calculating how much sleep I am getting and it's rarely more than 5 hours :( :( :( i am an 8 hour girl really.

Was in a similar situation preciously during winter. Nil turnout, on a yard, early morning work start so unable realistically to do the horse at 4am considering the yard owner lived there.
I had to rely on my father, what I did what make everything as easy as possible.

Feeds made up.
Nets made up.
Water full to brim.
Deep litter bed so only poop picking needed.
Horse mucked out later the better so there was less to pick out in the morning.
Everything set out and ready to go.

Afternoon/night I would set everything out and clean/fill water and give the bed a good muck out.

That plus and bottle of wine and a bag of crisps for him eased my guilt ??

Can you get a helper in as a treat to yourself, just for one morning? X
could possibly ask YO to do the last bit, it's such a faff having to wait in between each thing so I've been starting work at 6am in the car to fill the time in some productive way! if I did the gastroguard then the sucralfate I could bugger off and leave her to put hay in later if it was a day they weren't getting turned out. Will have a think.

Nope! I've had horses at home for over 20 years and now I don't. Rose is on full livery, is well looked after and tbh I don't lift a finger. I usually see her every day but not always and try to go in the afternoon so she doesn't miss her turnout and I take my dog for a walk. They even do my horsey washing for me. It's bliss!

The only time I don’t do my lot morning and evening is if I ever go on holiday which is very rare. I would miss mine and feel guilty if I couldn’t do them, but if your dad is happy to help and your pony is fine, don’t worry.
