Being groomed ?
I can brush her tail but any attempt to touch her head, neck or face is met with a raised head, head turned away or whole body walk away.
I’m keeping a diary to see if hormonal every 3 weeks or so ?

She’s mostly like it with me & much less obvious with other people but still noticeable .. I do wonder if I’m too static around her season?

No, I had one who would back towards you and rub herself on you when in season, it was pretty full on!

Others who would kink their tails to one side and wink.

My mare has a overy problem so if you brush were her overy are she will get mad and make a face but the vet says it hurts it like having back pain.

Mine doesn’t want to be touched and just wants to be left alone for her first season of the year - she’s been like it for the whole 9 years I’ve had her. If you try to groom her she gets beside herself with upset.

I sometimes feel the same when I’m due on so I respect that and just let her do her own thing for 2-3 weeks until it passes as it’s only once a year. If it was every single season I’d be getting a vet to have a look and make sure there’s nothing sinister going on.

I have one that gets a bit testy and doesn't like anything she considers "fussing", when i evented her she would be difficult in the dressage but would jump like a stag so it was swings and roundabouts. all the others get more cwtchy.

They are all different I think. I have 2 mares, one that is very sensitive to touch and fussy with brushes, has certain areas that can only be brushed with the softest. when in season kicks out and tries to bite during grooming, even just to brush her tail or oil a hoof! But exactly the same to ride.
The other you would never know she was in season to handle but to ride if you take her somewhere exciting like busy warm up ring she is nuts. Total opposite of how she is to ride normally.
