why is it such a problem finding a man that is either horsey or does not mind you spending time with your beloved animal!
every man i meet thinks he understands why i have to be at the yard morning, day and night and then spend all weekend competing but really he ends up moaning about never seeing me!
i think i need to find a farmer......he wouldnt mind as he would be equally as busy!
so where are all the men that "get it"!! :p

I wish I knew the answer! But farmers arent much better. My OH is one and can't stand horses even though he did pony club. I haven't managed to persuade him to get on my horse after 2 years of trying. He doesn't mind the time I spend at the yard but its just the way his eyes glaze over as soon as I mention horses.

If anyone knows where to find a nice horsey bloke let me know, I'd be happy to trade in my current model!

nooo you dont want a horsey man

i split up with mine like a month ago
and were like the best of friends now... but i always end up looking after his horses!!
( i do share one of them, but i always got lumbered with the other one too!)

Be careful what you wish for!!!! I have a horsey other half, . . . .no longer can I get away with 'honestly hun, I've always had that saddle, or 'of course, all the horses had rambo supremes last year!!!'. . . . but at least he came in useful recently when I phoned to say 'get a stable ready I'v bought another one'!!!!

make your own!!!!
my hubby wasnt at all horsey till we got our horse last year - now hes totally besotted!!! Calls in every morning on his way to work to give him a carrot and check hes had a good nights sleep lol
Find a nice young man and teach him the joys!!!! :p

I've got one, you can have him if you want

Do you really want to......

Have your riding criticised by OH - all the time?
Have arguments about tack?
Possibly have OH who rides your horse better than you?
Have him using your hat in comps and thus making it stink?
Have to watch him competing every weekend?
Have him boss you around all the time and treat you as an unpaid groom?
Have him criticise you for not riding your horse when you're pooped after a long day in the office?
Him to tut and huff if you don't do things "his" way?
Arguments over why he hasn't fixed the fencing?
Confront his strops when his horse has been playing up?
Have arguments about shoes?
Get yelled at when his saddle falls off because the girth broke (obviously your fault) and have to stifle the snigger that desperately wants to come out?
Be expected to do all plaiting (woman's job apparently) and brushing?

He looks good in tight trousers though......................:D

Saucisson now your making me re-think!! lol
been on sugardaddy.com and i wouldnt even want to comment on here about that site!
muddy matches has some cute farmer type guys but they are all miles away from me!
sometimes being single maybe better i suppose as at least im not answering to anyone and can spend my spare time with my horsey without being moaned at!
maybe I am looking for the impossible!

Do what i did find one that is not horsey then train him.

Mine now;

Mucks out
Poo picks
Grooms (admittedly not very well but a passable spit and polish)
Can lead and control and is confident with them (I bought him lessons for his birthday and he loved them!)
Reads Horse magazines on the bog
Wants riding lessons and his own Quarter horse

I found one! Well, he came part trained (could ride and knew what a horse was and liked them), but he did need further schooling. He can now do pretty much everything - I don't let him loose on my shavings bed cos I have OCD but he can do a straw bed nicely. And he does ask randomly silly questions like "how do I put this on" and "how do I clean tack". But otherwise he's pretty good :) He will turn out for me if I want a lie in, he has been known to stop off on his way home from work and bring in for me so I can go straight home, and he rides a friends horse 3 days a week. He also gets dragged out fence judging most weekends. He rarely moans if I'm late back from the yard, doesn't whinge about the cost and takes the view of "Oh well, I suppose if she *really* needs a new rug".... In fact, he didn't even complain when I said I needed (and promptly bought) a big 4x4!

On the flip side, he questions what I do constantly, tells me I'm wrong, brags about how well he can ride (someone once told him he was quite good and now his head has swelled so much his hat won't go on), and is one of those annoying people who think that they know it all cos they've been riding for 2 years lol. Oh, and he leaves muddy boot prints everywhere cos he forgets to take them off at the door.

i hope they aint all gay dominobrown!!!
just suppose a man that paid for my horse will do then, but kept well out of it!!! (oh i can dream cant I????)
from what your all saying having someone horsey is not always a bonus, but then I dont want someone who will heave everytime I walk in smelling of horses!
maybe I should put a wanted ad on here! lol
out of interest do we have many male members on here???? come on guys make yourself known! :D:D:D

I married a non horsey bloke, and I think it is better that way; you can convince them so much more easily that you need XYZ supplement, that you absolutely have to have so many rugs, that of course you need that new tack and so on.. he is also quite handy and built me a stable, repaired fences etc :)
It's got to the point now that if we go anywhere equestrain HE is the one pointing out the rug/tack bargains and I'm the one saying I don't need any more! So the moral of my story is, don't limit yourself to a horsey bloke, who will have far too much insider knowledge on the price of things and what you really need ;)

very good point touchstone, but I found with my last "non" horsey BF, he seemed to know i didnt need things and a wow saddle cost far too much and why couldnt i just have the one off ebay falling to pieces for £50! and he didnt understand why I paid over £1000 to take my LGV licence as my big horse will not fit in a 3.5ton!
i think i would partially enjoy someone who knew what I was talking about to a certain degree

My husband was part trained when I met him (rode years ago). My mare hates him (possible jealousy) and spent our first two years together pushing him around and bullying him (because he was too nice to her!). When we got engaged I bought him a lovely hunter gelding (spent the daytime wedding reception money on it!). The best part about my husband is he won't compete, but comes with me and is the perfect groom. He is an engineer, so can put studs in my raring-to-go-XC event mare quicker than anyone I've ever met! I couldn't manage without him now! So my vote goes to the horsey men. (Took me 35 years to find hin though!)

mines perfect i fi do say so myself. his sister had horses so had a vague idea anyway.

he can muck out, turn out etc etc sometimes comes to shows. the other day when i was ill he fed them mucked out and turned out!! :) when im competing away he will look after the others......
.....i did buy him a trials bike though.....bribary, its a brilliant thing!

he cant complain i spend too much time with the horses now he goes off on his bike!!

I didn't do my research - my hubby is ALLERGIC to horses ! Can't touch one or be watching in an indoor arena without his eyes streaming, sneezing and coughing. In 15 years he's never mucked out, caught, groomed etc. Can't divorce him coz after his first divorce he got wise as what to fight for !

When I divorced my 1st husband, I decided that if I couldn't find a horsey 'partner in crime' then I would have stayed happily single forever...

However, luck was on my side and New OH and me have been together now 12 years, married for almost 6....

I now get no 'Just how much is that feed gonna cost??...do you really need to take so long with that bloody horse? I'm not forking out THAT much for dead bloody grass!....my shoes last me YEARS...and you tell me that damn horse has new shoes every 6 bloody weeks at that price??'...

New OH does all field maintenance, handles all the horse with expert ease, doesn't turn a hair when he hands over £200 for feed....or hay, like we will next week....is quite happy waving me off to a local show, which in winter, is almost every weekend, indoor SJ somewhere or other...didn't bat an eyelid when I buggered off to Mongolia on a BHS trek or Iceland when I went there too...!

Is the best groom, horse-holder, driver, vet's assistant I could ever get!

We talk horses often (not all the time, but it's both our passion) and the best bit is....he rides too! :D

I don't think I could stand life now without OH in it......I have my true soul-mate....

I'm off to a Trec event in 2 weeks, thats another weekend away, and he supports me in everything I do....

I couldn't wish for more, sure, we might not be rolling in cash as most goes on the horses, but it is our life choice, and we both agree we don't know what we would do without the horses in our lives...

I think but I do hope to be proved wrong all the nice horsey ladys are taken !!! whats left?? well there either mad or gold diggers.... Me a forty something bloke with two horses no kids non smoker, easy going and not much hair....

My man is not horsey but he loves the fact that I am, keeps me out of trouble, although it does sting his wallet a bit :D

Don't spend much time on here, but I was a non-horsey chap. We now have 6 between the 4 of us with more on the way. Mine's a Haflinger and of course, being a man and despite the fact I've only been riding a couple of years, I am far more expert than my wife who has been riding for over 40 years.

Great excuse for toys, quad, check, roller, check, harrow, check, muck sweeper, check, Disco, check.........

I'm going to create my own! :D

My fiancé is from Paris and only encountered horses once or twice when he rode at camp as a child. One of these times he fell off and it has left him a little afraid of them. More and more now he expresses interest in the horses and ponies and has said that he would like to learn to ride, it's just a shame that we don't have anything suitable for him at the moment. He even offered to poo-pick! Bless him.

I think I am going to begin in the next week or two by taking him with me and teaching him some basic things like how to catch and tie, brush, pick out feet etc. He can either work on the shettie or on my retired girly who will stand there. He even said that he prefers chestnuts (the "reddy" ones!) and that he likes finer types like TBs. My hope one day is that he can have a sensible chestnut sports horse or something and that we can go out riding together around the countryside. I think that he'll come to really love riding if I can get him started. :)

My OH is horsey, and allthough it's not nice that he's better than me, and that I am always the unpaid groom, the lifestyle is amazing...We work really well together, spend most of our time travelling to shows so spend alot of time with friends, Jack ( baby - 5 weeks tomorrow OMG where has the time gone ) can be with us all the time and have as many ponies as I chose to get him and I can also collect them too!! The free training is also a bonus!!

Allright,he wont go near horses and has to be bullied into taking photos, but at least he never moans about me not being home :p
