where are you in the country and has the storm hit yet?

New forest and it's still chucking it down and wind is getting stronger. Just got the sofa bed out so I can (try to) sleep down stairs and my little dog promptly got underneith it. Poor little fella is so scared of wind :'(

Another report from Cornwall, the winds kicking up a notch or three... Nothing too dramatic but have now shut the door so the cats can't go out just incase.

Wind looking pretty ferocious now, not totally sure with rain as my window pane itself is sheltered so can't judge from there and it's too dark really to see. Not sure if sound of wind is drowning it out..!

In Exeter!

Still far too calm here. It's unusual for it to like this here as it's always been an exposed windy position so it's a bit unsettling . Raining steadily though and my cat is still out. Can't wait up for him any longer so he'll have to take his chances. Keep safe ye all.

My cat has just come flying through my bedtoom window, and shot under the duvet. He is VERY VERY wet. Yuk...

Trying not to laugh. Seems a lot of us are awake tonight, anybody would think we are on standby to rush out and look after our horses ! At least I am not the only barmy worrier.

I'm actually awake enjoying the peace and quiet... It may be howling with wind but I've got the house to myself, which is blissful! :). All the animals are safe indoors, Ben is in his stable and I'm snugly and toasty in bed on my ipad with a cuppa... Could be far worse :)

Another report from the far west of Cornwall. Rain. Local news reports of trees down, but my half-built extension is still standing, and the builder's Portaloo on the back driveway is still there, so really it's just another windy rainy day in Cornwall :-)

Gloucestershire here, and not much of anything yet. 3 out of 4 animals safely inside, just went down to check and one cat is outside, so now I won't sleep!!! I'm sure the wind and rain will pick up at some point. Apparently the met office have reported hurricane force winds on the Isle of Wight...really hoping my cat comes inside!!!

Chucking it down in Kent and the wind is howling. I'm expecting my blind dog to come and head butt the bed very shortly to ask to go out for a pee, as is her habit, but not too sure about opening the door right now!

I'm in Cornwall, it's blowing a gale outside and I can't sleep, so worried about the horses, I left them out. We still have power tho, small mercies at least I can have a cuppa!

Been awful in new forest. I've given up trying to sleep. Heard lots of banging and crashing outside hope everythings ok. We still have power and phone so maybe sounds worse than it is. Fingers crossed.

Southampton here. Supposed to leave for work in a while but my route is flooded and I 'm not going on the motorway in this. Need to get to Marchwood on the other side of the water but I'm not risking it yet as very rough out. I have traffic reports at the ready and just waiting for local radio to wake up so I can find out whats happening.

North Dorset here and it's blowing well! Going to have fun clearing up later, budlea gone and garden strewn with stuff I couldn't put away including a metal table. At least the aviary is holding up so far. Dreading going up to check ponies later

W Sussex coast. Been windy all night but really starting to gust now but so far not too bad haven't seen anything flying past but not many trees in my road, decided to get up and make tea just in case we lose power.

Oxfordshire. Can't hear any wind and didn't get woken in the night so think it missed us .... ir hasn't arrived yet.
Edit...just let dogs out. It is very windy but not hurricaneous. And if that isn't a word, It should be! It has just this minute started pelting with rain. Just as I am about to go and do the horses.

North East Kent and it's just hitting us now. Very windy now but not hurricane force just hope it stays that way! Stay safe everyone x

Middlesex: no rain, but absolutely FEROCIOUS gusts of wind. The trees on our road are, fortunately, young and seem to be bending with the wind! Haven't seen anything blowing past the window except leaves :) Hope everyone is ok! I can't get to do the horses, but hopefully it will have calmed down a bit soon. They got extra hay last nights, so they won't be without hay at least.

South Hampshire here, heavy rain and a few gusts but nothing like as bad as I've known before without storm warnings.

South east london / Kent borders. Very very winy but don't think it's hurricane strength (yet!)

That said our garden fence has just snapped so oh is out there trying to secure it before it all blows over.
