Where do you keep your hat?

I recently read on the Troxel blog that to make the most out of your hat's longevity, you should store it in a area where the temperature is moderate and consistent. They say to "never store it in a hot car or in the tack room when it's below zero [degrees Fahrenheit]."

I don't know why, but I never really even thought about it. I always used to keep mine at home and bring it out each time to ride, but once I got a tack trunk, I left it out at the barn.

Where do you store yours?

Ooops, naughty me! I have one in my tack room for when I ride my horse and I also keep one in my car that I use for work/riding other peoples horses.

I find the top of my head quite a good place to keep my hat..but then I'm a bit strange.

i have a locker that i keep in the liveries tack room and all 3 of my hats are in there.

i used to keep mine in a big metal trunk in the tack room in dxb where temps went up to 45 degrees - would be interesting to know if it did actually affect my hat

The boot of the car! Ooops! My boot is a portable tack room! I keep the spare hats in the garage, but we got my son's out of there the other day and it was full of mould, so I think it may not be a good idea!

Mine always goes in it's bag that it came in then hangs in my caravan at yard which does have heating in the winter (for my cats !) so it's probably at quite a reasonable temperature most of the time, although I never knew that's how you are supposed to store them.

MY everyday hat is in the tack room, my posh hats are in the top of my wardrobe... If I didn't keep the everyday one in the tack room I'd forget it cos I can't remember anything like that!

I keep mine in a hat bag inside my filing cabinet up the yard....

My tackroom - a room that has a tendency to be damp leading to mould. But I wear a jockey skull with a silk, which occasionlly gets a wash - read that as once a year!

My regular hat lives in my car I'm afraid. My comp hat generally stays indoors, although saying that it's been in the car for the last week!

My everyday hat lives in the tack room and my competition hat lives at home in a cupboard.

My everyday hat lives on a shelf at the yard so it is probably disintergrating as we speak. My comp one stays at how in a hat bag though!

I keep all of my riding clothes (including hat) in my bedroom. That or tack rooms, oops!
