Where is this ponies back?!

See this is what I don't get. You guys are all saying these breeders just do it for the money. This pony is supposedly 4 years old and they are selling it for what? £350? Where I live that wouldn't even keep a mare alive for 2 months and that's forgetting about the 18 months it takes to keep her till the foal is 6 months old. And then to keep it for another 3 years. That works out a sight more than £350. So unless they buy from other even dimmer breeders who sell for pennies to the auctions or whatever then there aren't many people making much money out of a pony such as this. I can't see why anyone would bother breeding anything if all they end up with is a piddly £350 once it gets to riding age.

You needn't think he spent £350 "breeding" it! It wasn't bred at all, the dams and sires roam around scrubland and it was born along with goodness knows how many others I expect. That's as far "bred" as it got.

Sadly people WILL buy this though. The sort of people that think the well bred yearling I have for sale is too much.

I suspect that costs are kept well down although they may still need some hay.

others got there while I was typing!

this guy always has several for sale. I doubt he actually breeds them all himself, probably buys them cheap by the truck load and turns them around quick enough for the £350 to actually make him some profit.

Poor little mite though :(

Its 'breeders', obviously using the term loosely here, that the RSPCA should be going after and then there wouldn't be so many animals to rescue.:(

But it costs nothing to keep them if you just chuck them on someone else's land and don't worm....

Eeps! I forget that this sort of thing is done over there.

i doubt hes done much 'turning around'
pony like that i expect its pretty easy to get a saddle and bridle on it.....place a heffalump on its back....take some photos....stick it on the internet
maximum....2 hours? work? it could have arrived at his place yesterday

sorry I didnt make my post clear. I meant 'turning around' in the sense of in one door and out the other, not in turning around the pony in terms of ability or condition.

I would think the lump slumped on that poor pony, is himself a product of indiscriminate breeding! Not that i would be brave enough to say that to his face :-P

Oh thats not fair. You made me look at dragon driving site !!
have just emailed somebody about a lovely grey gelding .
Wish I knew how to post a lonk but did you see that bay mare with the massive head and skinny body , was on about page 5 or 6 on horses in the south east area. Poor thing

I agree she only looks about 2, my two year old had a full mane, tail and feathers etc when I got him.
I've heard about this website but its the first time I've seen any of the horses, I know what people have been talking about now!

The yearling being driven is just shocking (well they all are). So sad :-( It sort of seems to me there is an underbelly to the horse world - i certainly never see any horses like this out and about- which is all on show on dragondriving.

Mad isn't it, that hackney x looks alright if you ignore the fact its a yearling being driven, 750 though when there are several nice horses for a grand directly below it, having a laugh some of the prices on there!

The one with the roman nose I remember coming up several times on here, and actually think could be quite nice, as she is clearly not 3 and has a huge amount of filling out to do!

If I had the space and the time I'd actually quite like to take this mare on, she seems sweet.

Also I do like unusual and exceptional horses, even if they are exceptionally ugly :o

I like her because she's not something that you'd see everyday, and maybe for good reason but even so :D

One thing is for sure though, she must never be a broodmare! Let's keep her one of a kind!
