Where do you look for puppies? We have always had ours through friends, but at the moment none of our friends are planning on having border pups so.... yeah where would you look?
I know we could look in rescue homes etc. but as we want a puppy to "train" (yes train a border- oh god! :p ) for shooting, im not sure a rescue would be suitable, unless it is very young...

Rescues like Many Tears often get pregnant bitches in and Cayla has just rehomed a litter of spaniels so they are out there.

I would go to a breed society (Google 'x Club of UK/GB/Your Region) and they will have a list of approved or recommended breeders.

Is there a local shoot who could advise, or a gun club?

I would stay away from websites like Gumtree or Donedeal TBH, know nothing about Epupz, Champdogs is supposed to be OK.

There may be ads in your local paper (be careful!) or tack shop too.

Stay away from those kind of websites please.

Contact some rescues and see if they have any pups.

Or

Search for the breed club and find a REPUTABLE breeder!

Thanks guys...
I think we may consider rescuing, especially if its like the bitch has been taken in and then has the pups- would definitely consider that then! or if taken in at a very young age...
We really want a perfect looking, proper border because we have seen so many "borders" that look like JRT and one litter that looked like rats! and weren't even border colours... will contact the local shoots to see if anyones breeding any :)

From my experience the breeders on champdogs are very reputable. Only searched my breed, but they were all health tested, only bred from bitches over 2 yrs and were KC reg. I got my pup off a breeder on there. I did contact the breed club, but the only litter was the other end of the country, and the litter I got my pup from met their standards anyway.
