It's so mild there is blossom on some of the trees in the village! I much rather prefer cold bright weather.

Yeah there's cherry blossom and snowdrops out here too.
I'd rather it get colder - the field is like a bog and it's raining again!

My daffodils are shooting up in the garden, the fields are soggy and slurpy with mud and the rain still won't stop..

Urgh.. Bring on cold frost.

I'm so relieved not to have had another long, hard winter. But some frost would be nice just to harden the mud up a bit. Never satisfied are we!

My winter pansies are still with me, but our field entrances are getting boggy and my normally nice green garden is resembling an over used football pitch courtesy of my dogs. Friends think it is hysterical that I have the turtle mud trapper mat, a j cloth and a towel to catch the dogs when they come back in... Till they get a staffie love in and realise just HOW muddy it is.

I have got away with not clipping my old mare this year which is a plus as she needs sedating.. She has hardly thrown any sort of coat this year.

I am thrilled about it!! I'm 6 months pregnant and could do without the tretcherous driving conditions and the humping water around, breaking ice etc, I don't know how I'd cope!! I am praying for it to stay like this!! Xxx

I'm in Scotland-grass hasn't stopped growing yet! I read one long range report that reckoned it would get colder mid/late January and that Feb would be colder than average due to the Gulfstream.

8 weeks left of winter, and if the atlantic airflow keeps the jetstream in place this year is will carry on as weve had. Short cold snaps, but very very mild. This time last year is was -8 to -12 here. Now its 2 degrees, yesterday is was 11 degrees!

Long may the mild continue!

I wonder why such a bad winter was predicted to start mid-end November?! I don't think we've dropped much below zero so far this winter, and when it did it was only for a couple of nights.

I was worrying my socks off as LL had been doing so well, nothing like he had been at all, but the forecast was so horrendous I had the date set and vet booked in (arthritis all four legs, didn't respond well to painkillers last winter), but the forecast changed dramatically, the pony was still happy and comfortable, so we held off and have continued to do so.

On the other hand, friends in Aberdeen have gone from continual snow and gales to 10 degrees plus in the space of a few days.

BBC month ahead says it is due to stay mild through January - perhaps February will bring you what you want??

its brilliant the manege froze once and i was really annoyed, as I can't hack easily due to raynauds (only got it mild so I can just about survive in much pain!)

However my fat hunter clipped pony is frothing during work, i'd hoped for her to drop the weight this winter but not going to happen at this rate ! So more work for me as I'm exercising her every day when i should be revising.

Really? It's beautiful here today. Blue skies and sunshine.

I don't want it to snow it's just that I'm worried that my geegees will lose their winter coats and then - BANG!- sleet, snow, ice etc. I don't want shivering horsies especially as mine all live out.

Guarantee we are been lulled into false sense of scurity!! Am also fed up with the mud, luckily YO isn't one for keeping horses in 24/7 just because there is a little rain and mud. Would like at least a week or 2 of NO RAIN (will start to do the sun dance), can't believe they were talking about water shortages over in the East, you guys are mire than welcome to have some of our water, actually on 2nd thoughts maybe not, we have some of the most expensive rates going

Since 2003 we have had snow every march the 13th to give you a date, apart from last year. It's my little girls birthday.

We're supossed to have snow soon, the temp has dropped a lot today - it was 2.5 degrees on the way to the yard at 9am this morning, recently it's been 8 - 10 degrees so maybe the cold is on it's way!
