I am looking to start showing my Bedlington, but really need to gain as much knowledge as possible about shows, showing, where they are, etc so think I probably ought to get a regular magazine to keep me updated on whats on, can anyone make any recommendations as there seem loads out there. i don;t want a general looking after dogs type on, more of a show etiquette, where the shows are, helpful tips, guidance and that sort of thing.

The 2 weekly dog papers, Dog World and Our Dogs have details of all shows, breed notes etc but don't carry too many tips on show etiquette. I would think your best bet would be to join a Bedlington Breed Club and see if they have any sort of magazine.

THanks MM, Tried the bedlington clubs, not really much available :( I will chase up again and see if I can get a more informed response. Trouble is they are northern based - so rather an outpost down here in Devon

If you can find a local ringcraft group (try KC website for names) and go along to that they should be able to help you with basic ring etiquette etc if not breed specific.

I have a friend nr Exeter who breeds and shows Bedlingtons. I will see her this weekend at a show and I will ask her about anything for you in Devon.

I show my Border Collie and was advised by others at ringcraft to look for shows online at the following sites most of which also allow you to enter online:

http://www.fossedata.co.uk/

http://www.dog.biz/

http://www.ejcprint.co.uk/ (This has replaced Penney Pine incase anyone mentions it to you as it no longer exists)

The other place to pick up schedules is at the big shows particularly the Championship shows.

One of the easiest ways to find a local ringcraft if there is nothing listed on the Kennel Club site is to go to some local companion or even fun dog shows and ask the judges.
