How do you know which bits to buy as a double set?

Star goes well in a NS tranz lozenge snaffle so I assume that this would be the briddon part, but how do you choose a weymouth mouthpiece?
What is the is the difference in action between fixed and sliding cheeks?

I know - dopey questions.

When I started riding in a double I was taught that if you used a loose ring snaffle then you should have a sliding cheek curb, and that fixed curbs went with eggbuts. Not sure whether it's essential though. There is a pretty good discussion of all of the variants available here. Might be worth talking to Neue Schule is you use one of those normally, sure they could suggest which weymouth to try

It really would depend on the size of your horses mouth and what you prefer. For Gin I have a loose ring french link bradoon because I prefer loose rings to eggbutts, and then a fixed cheek weymouth as I dont like sliding ones as it gives the horse more to play with. The thickness of the mouthpieces would depend on how much room there is in your horses mouth, your dentist would be able to advise you on the shape of your horses mouth and then chose a bit to suit.
