Which horse should I take?

My local show that is in walking distance actually has a class suitable for my arabs! It's still dominated with various Welsh classes (plus Shetties and Shires) but I have decided that an arab surely fits in the in-hand sport/show horse class. :)

I will just take one as then the other two will be fine left behind together (and I then wont worry about them and can enjoy the show).

I want to take one of the younger horses, so which one should I take - the grey mare or the chestnut gelding?

She'll be calmer, actually has the slightly better conformation and will probably just stuff her face whenever she's allowed to. ;) However she is scarred having ripped herself open badly as a yearling.

He is much more bouncy (nothing awful) and I suspect that he'll really turn on the showman inside and will really enjoy himself. He is not in show condition, he's lean as he's just had a massive growth spurt however he's looking a lot more balanced and no longer rump high.

My first thought is to take him, but then if I take her it will probably be less stressful due to her taking everything in her stride - if i can catch her... ooooohh she's being a rotter at the mo.

If it's a local show the scarring might not matter too much? Depends on how bad it is i suppose, but also its meant to be fun and it's lovely taking a nice relaxed horse out and about

Hopefully your local show is on every couple of weeks like mine. To check it out I'd take the mare for fun, then next time take the gelding when you've had a chance to improve his condition. If its a one off probably the gelding. Either way good luck :-).

Sadly they only have the one show. :(

ETA - the scars are pretty bad, several black lines across her chest with no fur and she's a white grey so they really show up when she has her summer coat.

I love her face, and glad they're friends now. He's very smart and she look a bit like mine - so clearly lovely (well what mine probably should look like if she was younger and hadn't had a couple of foals!)

Did the grumpy photo sway you? :D :p

Non grumpy one.

This shows how lean he is at the moment. He will put on a bit by the time of the show, unless he shoots up again.

ETA. Here's a nice one of her.

they are both lovely. I would take him, as he would learn alot, and he may even surprise you and be really chilled out.

Whichever one you take, you will no doubt do very well, have a great day x

See now I want to take both, but I can't leave chestnut mare on her own for that long as i would just worry about her the whole time (she'd probably be fine in her stable but I worry about that horse more than any other as she's taken so long to fix).
