I was away last week, and started riding again on Saturday raring to go, as my TB is sound again from her foot puncture and riding 2 a day at the moment as OH off at the moment.

All I did yesterday was hack one horse for an hour, and 35 min in the school with the other. Did similar today and my backside is just so sore and rubbed.

My saddle is quite a small size (16 or 16 1/2"), and I know quite a lot of seat savers only come in one size, so thinking they might be a bit too big.

A nice discrete one would be nice, and gel or suede and foam.

Any recommendations (and who stocks it) would be greatly appreciated, as I felt I didn't ride well today (too busy tipping forward saving my bottom from further punishment.

Thanks

Fiona

I have a Heather Moffett seatbone saver and it really makes a difference. I bought it for a week trekking and I'm sure it's the only thing that got me through full days in the saddle. They look big but actually you can't really tell from the ground once they are on the saddle.

link They are quite pricey

but really comfy, Feedmark do one which looks the same but is cheaper see here .

Used to swear by my Heather Moffett one, wouldn't ride any horse without it. I sold up and so sold it on but think I need to get myself another one seeing as I'm getting back into riding now!

Heather Moffett again. I did 3 days camp and the HM seatsaver went on on day 2. I doubt I would have lasted without it, I was in agony at the end of the first day. It saved my life.

OMG, just looked at the link Milliepops posted....how much for the HM one!!!! Sure I bought mine for about £38 when I got it about 5 years ago but £53! I'm now really regetting selling mine on for only tenner - damn!

Ha ha - they're at livery for the moment while OH recovers from his op. Sophie would win an all Ireland spooking competition shes so freaked out at living somewhere new. Ride & lead would NOT be an option (I value my life (as well as my bottom))!!!!

yeah, I was really shocked at the price of the genuine ones too! I've had mine about 7 years and no way did I pay that much!

So the question is - is the HM one worth the money, and if so would it fit a 16" saddle.

I have spotted a cheapie one in rideaway, aerborn foam one at £15. I'm sure it isn't as comfy and well padded as others, but would it make a bit of a difference. It also comes in medium as well as large.

I have tried the cheaper versions and tbh I found the foam one I tried caused a rather uncomfortable hot bum (I don't think you need more detail).....

I love my Heather Moffat one, the suede covering stops you from slipping and it moulds really well to your saddle (I used it first on 16")...

Like you I hesitated because of cost but 3 years later definately no regrets!!

Try eBay for a HM seat saver, I keep being beaten to them but heigh-ho, will keep bidding!

I have a Griffin pure wool one which keeps the chill off the saddle but really does nothing in terms of comfort, certainly nothing to reduce back and hip pain. It doesn't have straps like the HM, only elastic, so it slips when I mount and dismount. A lot of money for little help.

have had my HM on all sorts of saddles, including those on 12.2s! I have also had it for bout 10 years and you wouldn't know, It has been dunked in the sea and allsorts! suede is a bit shiny. so IMO worth every penny (tho I didn't pay that much 10 years ago) has given me 10 years of comfy riding and more to come

OK I'm convinced. Rideaway's price is £48 so will order one in the morning. Hope it comes quickly.

I'm already wearing a pair of OH's cycling shorts under my breeches, might have to add some fybagee of something as well.

Keep your fingers crossed for quick delivery!!!!

I rode in one the other day and Im def going to get one to go on my jumping saddle. Equestrian clearance seem to be the cheapest at the moment £38.00 p&p is extra tho. There was a cheap one on ebay the other day but that ended before I could bid on it.

Another Heather Moffett fan- you can pick them up fairly easily on Ebay- and Heather Moffett fakes *whispers* which are just as good!!
