Have you ever ridden with plastic stirrups? I only ask because I hated them when I rode with them and if ever you loose one they are a right pain to find again as they dont just drop.

If you do alot of showjumping or XC then the ZILCO COMPOSITI REFLEX STIRRUPS are good safety stirrups however (imo) they do tend to feel big and clumpy :)

I've never lost a stirrup [Flexi stirrup] and would never ride with anything else, I don't compete, just feel them so comfortable, and grippy. they only come in one size, I am a size 39 and wear Ariat Joddy boots.
Personally do not like the look of the other, just a lightweight cpy of traditional stirrup with all the disadvantages of same.

I found this so got the Equiwing aluminium stirrups (seem exactly the same as the Mark Todd ones but less ££). Love them. Wide tread so extra comfy xc and hacking, only thing I found with most lightweight stirrups was that they were taller than my old stainless ones so my stirrup leathers were too long:rolleyes:.

I have the Reflex ones on all my saddles, love them! They make me feel so much more stable, they are not too light either as they have a metal component in the foot bed so they do drop if you loose one.

Had the Throwgood ones years ago and hated them, too flimsy.

The Reflex ones are available much cheaper elsewear, I got all of mine from Ebay for £22.50 and know there was a thread in New Lounge a few days ago with a link to them from a shop for that sort of money.

I have shires lightweight stirrups with cheese grater treads and love them! Think they were £26

I have lost my stirrup but never any trouble finding it I actually find them easier to locate than my old bent irons.
