Which xc boots do you use and why?

I have the Premier Equine ones (last years) they aren't bad but my boy (ID x)has quite chunky legs and the FS are nothing too big. Also not used them that many times and not sure how long they will last!?
 
NEW Equestrian Wear (N.E.W) airflow.
They are great, really good fit, lightweight, fast drying and of course most importantly good protection.
Used mine loads and they are still in great condition too.
They are expensive but well worth it.

I did buy a pair of premier equine ones but as soon as they arrived i could tell they would not last long on my boy who brushes quite heavily infront, so back to my trusty N.E.W's.

Why?

We have always used N.E.W but bought some Dalmar over reach boots to try. The large were too large and the medium too small so we gave up. Were thinking of getting a set of the eventing boots too but now worried we might have the same problem with fitting
 
My horse sweats a lot under his premier equine and the netting in the aifflow is tawn so wouldnot buy again . I use these on his fronts on his hind he wears woof wear cc boots which I cannot fault no sweat good protection, very light and do not move , will be buying fronts to replace the pe very soon :)
 
Premier Equine all the way, fit my boy well, have a2nd hand pair of backs that are still going strong and new pair (bought new, last seasons cheap on their website) for front. Last well, look good, fit and seem comfy :)

PS another one why not Dalmar???
 
Just to add my woof wear boots are the ultra ones ( just been looking on eBay for fronts some for £25 incl p&p no bids yet but 4 days to go unfortunately wrong size (m) for me )
 
I have EcoGold ones. They came highly recommended on here, so I bought a set. Have yet to use them for XC, but have schooled in them and they are lovely boots.
I swapped from PE ones, as my Mare came back from her last event with a fat leg, which I suspect was down to a the tendon guard in a rotated boot rubbing at her. They are nice boots, but I found that unless I did them up very tight they slipped and moved, and I don't like tightly fastening boots.
I've heard lots of bad things about the Dalmar boots, so it was out of EcoGold or NEW for me. The EcoGold looked slightly more robust, so they win, time will tell if I picked the right ones! Although I also have their Saddle Pads, which are actually the most amazing things ever!! :D
 
Thank you for your help! Love the look of the ecogold ones but out of my budget unfortunately. I had been thinking N.E.W boots, a bit expensive but a friend has a set and they still look good after quite a lot of wear. Will go off and hunt for a bargain!
 
Would never use dalmars having read some of the stories.

Atm Ive just started to use PE ones (aircooled) they did a couple of comps last year and I was impressed with them :). I think a lot of its down to leg shape though as there were a lot of recommendations on here for prolites which I bought but the backs twizzle and slip (on 2 different horses TB and a solid type ISH) so I was very disappointed with them.
 
The tendon guard in the Dalmar's has been known more than once to shatter into a horses tendon (think £30K of horse and shattered tendon guard in their tendon...). A picture of a broken guard here
 
Have used PE boots - never had a problem with them, especially when they can come so cheaply in the sale.

Current horse has a set of Prolites all round - merely because I had the back ones for previous horse, and they fitted her, so bought her a front pair. Her stick legs were never going to fit into the large PE boots previous horse had!
 
Ive tried a few makes and am now using premier equine xtreem boots. I like them because theyre lightweight, fit well and are cheap! I wouldnt buy the aircooled though as they dont wear aswell, and tbh unless you're eventing at the higher levels, the benefits of vents will be v.tiny!

I like NEW as theyre light and fit well, but are v.expensive, and the straps died on mine, Prolites lasted for years and offer great protection, but are heavier than ideal, wouldnt touch dalmars, and found the woof wear boots slipped and were too flexible for my liking!
 
Had 2 sets of prolites, very good IMO. Fit well and very protective, back boot prevented a nasty injury when he caught his leg on a thick brush sticking out of a XC fence boot took the worst of it thank god.
Just treated myself to the NEW airflow ones and only used once due to events being cancelled but am impressed so far.
 
I really like Dalmars - they are cut very well and very light. They really suit proper eventer types though and as I now have a short legged MW pony type they don't fit!!!

Pony is wearing trizone allsport boots. He isn't particularly keen on wearing boots at all and these are very light and flexible plus they seem to fit him, which no other boots did!
 
I recommended the Ecogold ones, I absolutely can't fault them: fantastic fit, very lightweight, no neoprene, don't absorb water. shortish tendon guards so no rubbing, which is the current concern with certain boots apparently...
Otherwise, NEW aircooled or lightweight are very good, ditto Style.
I had an immaculate pair of Dalmars and after reading what was said and seeing the photos on here about them, I sold them on ebay...

Not sure what size you are looking for but I am selling a pair of Brand new large ones on Ebay at the moment £52 plus I think it was £3.50 postage. Bargain compared to £77 plus postage
 
Thank you all for your help. I've got some vouchers for ride away so going to get the N.E.W light boots. Any help on sizes, to fit my mare, westphalian 16hh, the medium premier equine boots I had for my old mare would have fit her (really regretting letting them go now!).
