Has anyone used the firepower or unbranded pellets as opposed to the platinum pellets?
I've used the platinum plus before and been pleased with them but in my mission to save money wondered how the cheaper pellets compare?
I used sorbeo last year and they were ok but I found they were not as economical in that I seem to use more.

I think they work out cheaper than shavings. In my area, shavings are £7/8 pounds a bale. One of mine is very wet so would use at least two bales a week pellets are also more time saving to muck out.
Straw is probably cheaper but not as absorbent harder to muck our and a lot more smelly!
I've tried straw, shavings and wood pellets and so far prefer pellets.
I've tried a few different brands but find white horse the best. Verdo are by far the worst. Sorbeo are ok but didn't seem to last as long.

I definitely find pellets cheaper than shavings.

Have to stock up again as current stint of box rest has pushed my useage up a bit fast so I'm getting through them faster than expected :(

My local shop does some price matching thingy so I might set them a challenge ;) I'm normally a platinum plus user.

Along with rape straw this may be another consideration then. I stopped using pellets when I got a box Walker 😩 but he’s sadly gone so may give it another try

Just done a few sums. Platinum plus works out at 4.53 if you buy a full pallet. The unbranded ones I think work out at 4?
So about half the price of shavings?
I admit they don't look as nice as shavings but as above. They still get pooed on and I'm sure the horse doesn't care!

I've been going back and forth with regards to pellets Vs Straw, straw is hand as it is available locally at around £35 per round bale, pellets on the other hand may work better but would have quite a high upfront cost for a pallet, albeit the pallet would last a long time.

I've also seen pelleted cat litter at pets at home that I have been considering giving a bash?

I've used the car litter from pets at home. They do one made by white horse which is good but it does work out more expensive than buying a pallet. You can buy half pallets too.
This code gives you 3% off macchr21736.
I might give the unbranded ones a go.

I bought half a pallet of White Horse Platinum last year from Pets at Home. I went into the shop to order and they gave me a further 10% off which the Manager said they’d always do. It worked out cheaper than buying direct from White Horse.

Oh. That's interesting. I may ask them.

I've recently switched from WHE Platinum Plus pellets to Equisorb which is a chopped flax bedding. So far after about two months usage it has worked out a bit cheaper despite the bales being a fair bit more expensive. It is only slightly more time consuming to skip out than pellets and I am using 1 bale every three weeks compared to 1 bag of pellets each week.

Interesting. I like WHE PP for the convenience as well as price... but always looking for a good deal ;)
how much time do your horses spend in the stables, eggs?

At the moment they are in from about 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. In winter it will be from about 4:00 pm to 9:30 am. I made the switch as we've got a horse on box rest so have to have another one in to keep her company (they have got day and night stables) and the Equisorb is less dusty.

So far I have been very pleased with it. Light in colour and seems very absorbant (my really, really wet horse is on straw though as he would bankrupt me on anything else). It is also easier to dig out the wet (only had to do it once so far and three of the four horses who are alternating to keep R company at night are pretty wet).

Think I'm going to give the unbranded ones a go. Anyone that wants to buy from white horse 5% off code is macchr21736.

I've tried that code but it is not valid. I tried a code last year that was also not valid but I thought it must have expired or something. Any ideas if I can get that discount? Every little helps! Thanks x
