White/light breeches. Why...

Aha, here we go! All I’m saying is when it comes to white ones… don’t do it. 😂 They’ve not been the same since, they’re not very flattering and beige or tan is much nicer. Or a smart grey!

That's one way to deal with them if they're see through!

What size are you looking for @SaddlePsych'D? I think I have a few spare pairs

That's the other issue, sizing seems pretty inconsistent! I'm a UK12 which I think translates to size 32 but I have three pairs of those now and they range from 'snug' to 'cannot get up past bottom!' I've kind of left it a bit late now I think so will definitely have to make do with what I already have for tomorrows comp. Depending on what others are wearing tomorrow I might just stick with that for the next one as well.

I have the tredstep solo breeches and white, they aren’t see through, and recently wore them for a competition and didn’t get hot. I am Portugal as well so mid 30s. I got them of Vinted as well!

Someone advised me to wear a pair of black tights under my cheap white decathlon jods so I could wear proper pants and it totally works! No VPL and the black seems to hide everything underneath. You honestly can't tell I'm wearing them under the jods!

Are they all see through?! If not, how do the see-through ones sell?! Are people just buying them and not minding if their pants show? Or wearing very small/no pants?! (I am a regular, vouched for forum member btw, not some creep doing one of those 'men's underwear for riding' type posts 😏)

For context...I've gone on a Vinted mission (a new addiction is forming) to get some second-hand breeches for a couple of in-house dressage competitions this week and in a couple of weeks' time. It's not essential they're light coloured as the dress code is just 'smart' rather than proper competition wear. Initially I wasn't going to bother and just wear either navy riding tights/leggings or olive green breeches I already have, but then I thought if I could pick something up for not too much money that might be nice to look a bit more dressed for the occasion/'the part'.

The mission has been a mixed success, one pair didn't fit at all and the others fit fairly well but are quite see through! I've run out of time to sort something for this weeks comp so will make do with what I have. Any recommendations for brands though would be appreciated and maybe I can get something in a sale before the next comp :)
I always wore white knickers as coloured ones use to show when I wore my 'whites'.

Interesting, may as well give it a try and see if it works for me too!

Aha! Success! Second hand pair of Pikeur breeches in 'Mushroom' colour (aka brownish grey) for £30. Fit perfectly and not see-through :)

Also apparently red pants under white works. Mobile phones definitely listen to our conversations because a video came up on my OH's TikTok about this. Instead of telling me about it like a normal person he came bounding into the room I'd just finished yoga-ing in, wearing one of the white pairs of breeches saying 'Can you see my pants?!' and wagging his bum at me!

In fairness, I couldn't see the pants so I could see why he was excited about it. Will probably stick with the Mushroom ones though.

This thread has made a distant memory surface.
For my daughter’s wedding I purchased a lined voile( ? ) dress. I mistakenly thought the lining would cover all differences between my white undies and my skin.
Did it?
No.
I rushed off to a the local big town to find a solution. In the shop the assistant produced flesh coloured undies.
That problem was solved.

I once had an absolute meltdown because I'd travelled for an overnight stay for a job interview and not packed the right bra (the nude coloured one). Cue me speeding round to a big Tesco just before closing, then calling my friend in hysterics because they didn't have a clothes department and everywhere else was shut. She still teases me about it now. I did get the job (the bra situation was actually fine, it just sent me over the edge at a very tense time - it was a big interview!)

Flesh coloured underwear is a must for anything white even under a white shirt, I can't stand being able to see underwear through clothes it looks terrible.

I always go for nude coloured underwear but I find flexars and horzehoods really good. I'm eyeing up their white ones with grey or black but otherwise I always wear beige but they are a nightmare to keep clean.

I’ve been looking at these as I just can’t keep my whites clean! Apparently they are competition legal and the coloured part can also be grey or navy. Not the cheapest but a good idea.

I saw a lady compete in these at the weekend, and despite her being in lovely shape, they really enhanced her behind - I think because of the big black round patch, it almost gave the illusion that she was spilling over the saddle as it could be seen round the outside.

Obviously people are welcome to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable, but this is just what I noticed at RIHS.

Oh dear, that's the opposite of what I was hoping they'd do. In side on photos I've seen they look really slimming as you only pick out the white bits but if they emphasise the black bits IRL then I'll definitely avoid
