I had a funny feeling about riding his morning and it seems I should have stayed in bed. Ambling through the village and a motorbike came towards us. Old fashioned motorbike with high pitched motor noise. Friends horse spooked a bit and set mine off. He whirled onto a drive and lost his footing and over we went! So I'm finding myself lying on my side trying to do a body scan to see if anything has broken. Bad! I've landed on my right side which has a pinned collarbone with the horse on top of my leg. Nope nothing broke but ouch. Motorbike pissed off but car behind stopped while friend caught horse, and helped me to my feet and then drove me to the yard whilst neighbour helped to lead horse back. He's got a nasty graze on his shoulder from a pebble and was very unsettled poor boy. I've gotten away with a badly grazed leg and elbow and bruised hand. Plus a sore shoulder and right sacroiliac not to happy either. Must learn to fall on my left side ! :( A big thank you to two sweet ladies who helped me and the lady who led R back to yard too. As for the motorbiker .. Well what can I say! Would slowing down have been that much trouble for you, you *********! Such a shame as he was doing so well in traffic too. Now tucked up in my dressing gown and I think riding might be off the cards for a few days.

Ouch, poor you and horse. Arnica pills might ease the bruising and the gel if you have any.

A friend of mine had a similar fall, his horse spooked and got into a property's drive, one of those big paved stone and shining sealed ones. The sealant was so slick the horse could not get up. He eventually struggled and fell several times until he reached the lawn and got enough purchase to get up.

The end result was a battered rider, a battered and shocked horse and to add insult to injury the home owner went ballistic at the damage to the drive, big bill landed the next day. Thankfully the horse was insured.

Thanks Tobiano and AA :) another few yards and there was a grass verge. Even if he'd slipped on that we'd both have had a softer landing. Typical !
My body protector did its job again so ribs are ok. I'm so pleased I always wear it out hacking. I've got some pharmacy strength diclofenac spray...somewhere.

Its taken 12 hours for all my bumps and bruising to show itself. Think I need all my right side transplanting. Ankle, knee, hip, shoulder elbow and hand. Can't decide which joint needs icing most and have only one ice pack. :(

ouchy ouch hon I hope you're ok. i've done something similar before but it was my left side. rest up.

Oooh poor you. xx A few years ago daughters horse slipped on the road and went over with her. He then took off.. she scrambled up, stole a bike from an elderly gent who was too bemused to object, caught horse, returned bike and then realised how much she hurt. No real damage, but spectacular bruises.. in fact the horse came off worse with some nasty grazes where he had tried to get up on the slippery surface. Thank goodness for knee boots, judging by the damage to them he would have been in a bad way without them.

Yep LiR poor horse has a few nasty grazes and cuts and was lame this evening. Not sure I could have jumped to my feet and chased him though. I suppose adrenaline masks the initial damage.
Atlantis :) feel free to send me some distance healing vibes ...ouchies.

Hope you're better today. Sounds like I came off at around the same time, but much less spectacularly. My mare discovered bucking as a sport and threw a huge one when I pulled her up from snatching grass. We were still on the farm track, so I flew over her head and landed on my chest. Also wearing a body protector and my god, am I glad I did! Just got a grazed elbow and I'm a bit stiff, but was able to ride the safe one, today! Feel better soon! x

Oh yes, very sore today! There have been a few times when I've thought that maybe I'd just not bother wearing the BP. After all I don't fall off that often. But I then think that it'll be Sod's law and the day I don't is the day I do :o I also suspect that some people assume that I wear it because I'm not confident or inept. But I promised my family that I'd always wear it out hacking or jumping and like you I'm so glad that I was wearing it yesterday. Every joint on my right side from wrist to ankle is stiff and sore. Shoulder and hip probably the worst. But I realise that as we fell on tarmac/concrete that I could so easily have broken one or more of my joints. But that does not bear thinking about. I got lucky and I hope it's not going to dent my confidence. Just typical being laid up and such lovely weather :(

Those were my thoughts, too. The farm track is a mixture of stones, sand and random bits of concrete. Classic rib breaking material. I still don't understand how my chest landed first - my hat wasn't touched and I'm not well endowed, so it can't have been that! Hope your stiffness is easing. I still feel like I've had a really tough gym session. My confidence is well and truly dented, sadly, but with what's going on with my cat, I've decided to go back to walking her out and not allowing grazing at all, then get an instructor to work with us on schooling basics. Maybe I'll get a hit-air jacket and a parachute, too...
