BD, BS and BE :)
I noticed on the website that I looked at that it says all boots have to have a patent top now.

I never used to wear patent topped boots when I competed, I used to wear leather gaiters over jod boots unaffiliated and then mountain horse long boots BSJA as it was then, but they deffo weren't patented tops. Is this a recent thing , i.e. past 2006?

That definitely isn't a BD rule.

I have navy blue and wear them for BD etc. I love mine (have a black pair to if needed) but seem to just use my navy ones for everything.

Sorry to derail the thread a bit

Patent boots or patent top boots - how do you stop them sticking to the saddle flap? I've only tried 'em once and found them a bit sticky, do you need to treat the inside with something?

I read that as “plain black / brown / navy” or “brown / black / navy with patent tops” ie they do not have to have a patent top.
Yes think that is correct.
I used to wear gaiters rather than boots at first and then went to mountain horse long boots but suspect that if I ever go that route again I would need to wear jod boots and gaiters as I have an over developed right calf and half the boots I wear don't fit :(
