I know there are a few mares due, how are they doing, are you testing their milk?
Its got a few wrinkles, no where near as many as normal, but cleverly I didn't think to take a 'before' picture so although it has def been changing over the last few days, I can't judge by how much! it doesn't seem to have elongated much but again, no frame of reference!
Any other things I should be checking for? I can't get any milk to test as too stroppy/kicky when I try to feel the boobies let alone try and get anything out of them!
Have got a camera in the stable (been in there for 2 weeks) which is watched religiously, and have a good idea of general routine. She is perhaps sleeping a little more than usual, mostly lying down, but nothing too out of the ordinary, she has also been ravenous for last 2 days.
Should mention mare been in boxrest since before Christmas with laminitis (not due to fat/over feeding but caused by concussion from frozen ground or frosted grass) Ironically I have always been super vigilant and always brought my horses in during the day in winter to avoid them eating frosted grass, but this year with her being in foal and having sight problems with joints (not hereditary) I though she would be better off out all the time............. D'oh!
She currently goes out for 2 hrs twice a day, if weather is ok, ie not frosty, or sunny after rain.
Hey Gucci_b! i look forward to hearing her progress!
Bell's started waxing off and on weeks ago, but now is more consistant and daily.
