I have started walking my pony out inhand on the roads to transition him to barefoot. Its peeing it down here but will still take him for his walk.

If I have planned to hack I still will if it is raining, but not tend not to school in heavy rain as I ride in a field. I know a lot of people who don't even consider riding if the sky looks remotely grey!

I am not talking about indoor schools, I am talking about getting wet in the rain! Ha ha

I am definately a fare weather rider. I spent enough time in my youth riding in the rain. My horse is in livery in a riding school with an indoor arena and I would not consider a livery yard without one. If I had arranged to hack out with a friend and there was a soft mist I would go but not in anything heavier.

I also ride in the rain, only time I don't is if the boys are drenched & I don't have time to dry them off as hate putting tack on wet horses.

Don't know when I would ride if I didn't ride in the rain :D I tend to ride in all weathers bar sheet ice, heavy snow or gale force, as long as i have waterproofs on we are fine in fact it's great for convinvincing my mare she really does need to get her feet wet!! most of my yard think I'm mad they are slightly more fair weathered riders they tend to ride in the indoor.....my mare would go flat if that's all we did during winter so we lead an exhilarating all weather lifestyle :D

I do, I have good waterproofs and a waterproof exercise sheet for Cobby. I figured I'd hunt/compete in the rain so why not hack or school?

Only time I won't is if it is torrential.

I used to ride in all weathers and have even ridden in a storms, the naivety of youth! Now I am nearing half a century I only ride when it is dry and when I feel like it. Luckily for me I have a horse that doesn't seem to be any different to ride wether its been 1 day since I last got on him or 2 weeks! An indoor school would be a real luxury but not sure I would get much use out of it.

I ride in the rain. Not often though, because I'm a wimp and a pansy :D. But I find it useful to school in the rain from time to time to ensure that my horse works properly, rain or not. If we get cought in a downpour at competitions I want to be sure he doesn't go nuts :)

Um, we live in England .....

Edited to say - well actually, to stop upsetting the natives - the majority of us on here live in the UK but I expect the Welsh, Irish and Scottish chaps on here would agree it rains a bit there too!

I try to ride whatever the weather. Allthough, my horse isn't keen on rain!!! His back comes right up and if you don't keep him busy he WILL try and chuck you!

I hate getting wet normally but don't care when riding  tend to have a fast hack or a schooling session. Not saying I'd go for a leisurely stroll in the pouring rain.

But if I had an indoor I'd ride in there in the rain. I don't. :D

I ride my mare in the rain too, it's not as if she's going to melt into a puddle is it? :p If its tipping it down and really horrid then I won't but usually I don't mind and neither does she. I live in the Lake District so we're used to lots of rubbish weather :p

Scotland, Wales and (Northern) Ireland are part of the UK too ;)

Didn't you know that horses born in Wales hav:De webbed feet?:D

Always! I do it in the hope that BP will shrink in the wash...
As long as there is good enough footing I will ride and as long as visibility isn't too poor we will hack out. In the coldest winter weather I tend to ditch the saddle though, no point in getting a cold bum when you can sit on a heated back instead...

I have this morning, hacking in the woods.

It was very dark, quiet and creepy and didn't help things either, when the young and barely able to fly pheasants were running around like mad things in the brambles, but my girl was a hero.:D
