Who does dressage with their cob/native type and what level do you compete at?
Do you stick to traditional plain tack or do you go for the full dressage bling ie patent leather nosebands, diamante browbands etc.........i personally love the whole blingyness especially the patent nosebands and really love the v shape browbands.
My native cob type is showing real potential for dressage and am secretly very pleased she isnt a big heavy hairy sort, more of a LW type with little feather, big tail and a now pulled neat mane. She has 8" of bone, quite short coupled and very uphill, everything is coming together so planning on getting her out next year. I want to be competing at novice level eventually and maybe more, who knows.
Dressage saddle is next on the agenda (bonus month) now i just need to find her a bridle........hence the questions about bling!!
also i wanted to show her a bit next year - can i still show her in a dressage saddle? (colored classes etc) would be local level. If i went for brown then i suppose it would be suitable for both.........but if i did go for black i don't suppose i would be marked down would i as i know brown is more correct for the show ring??
Advice please\!!

So if anyone has got any blingy dressage cob/native pics would love to see them

I both show and do dressage on my Welsh D, we keep it plain and workmanlike. Currently competing Prelim/Novice and starting to school Elementary at home.

Yes brown is more 'correct' in the show ring, but it's fine to use black at local level. Why not consider a showing saddle instead of a dressage saddle? It's straight cut and can be used for both (that's what I do dressage in and I LOVE my showing saddle).

I know trendybraincell has a small amount of bling on her super Welsh Cob.

Me and my mare....

And to give you an idea of how straight the saddle is....

I have a coloured native type and we do 'subdued bling' LOL We use a black saddle cloth, not white, because I feel it looks a bit 'flash' on a coloured.
Also, I don't want to look 'All the gear but no idea' LOL
I use an Elevator bridle with a raised noseband and a matching browband, but in simple black leather - no crystals etc.
The saddle is a black dressage saddle (Wow) , but that's the only saddle I have and its the only one that has never climbed up her neck. We also show in it.

I generally wear a tweed, with a coloured stock.

This is Star in her showing bridle, but the dressage bridle has a noseband of a similar width and a hanging snaffle.

I don't plait anything, and we go for 'squeaky clean and flowing'. I do think a white saddlecloth would be too much bling for us.

I have a Welsh Section D, we've competed up to Novice (went to the Petplan champs) but hoping to get out and have a bash at Elementary soon, he's schooling Advanced Medium at home.

I am quite the purest when it comes to tack, it took a VERY long time for bling to work its way into my tack room! But I now have him in a drop noseband with blingy browband, straight cut show saddle, all tack is brown.

I do dressage (only low level stuff) on my show cob, no bling but some matchy matchy (ish)....please no comments on my lack of slyph-like figure to go with it!
I have a Morris & Nolan padded bridle for dressage.
