Who has a farm dog?? what breed??

My working border collie has a large kennel and run and is very happy with this outdoor life ,she was born on a farm and was hardy from a very early age .

I have a collie cross alsatian, which is a true farm dog - ie sleeps in the barn on a bit of straw, and 2 others - a border collie and JRT, both sleep wherever they feel like, mainly on the sofa:D

My two aren't 'proper' farm dogs, however they do live on a farm and behave like farm dogs...I have staffies. One boy, one girl, they live together in a kennel with a huge run and in the winter they get a snugglesafe pad put in at 10pm to keep them warm overnight!
They come inside to chew a selection of bones when the other half is at skittles on a Tues and Thurs night...

I don't own a farm dog, but our yard has 2 collies.
They were working dogs when the farm was a dairy farm, but now they live in the yard on long lengths of chain. They have separate bedrooms, liberally furnished with straw.
Tan hates men and likes women (usually). Floss loves only Alan who takes her for walkies each day. Personally, I don't go anywhere near Floss because gorgeous as she is, she's likely to eat me alive!

Tan lives at the main gate to the yard, and Floss lives opposite the house back door - just in the right place to raise Cain if you walk on the yard unexpectedly.

We have a farm collie, she lives out (well at night, she ofter sneaks into my kitchen during the day and gets herself comfy on the leather chairs!!), but she does sleep out all the time, even in that awful cold temps we had a Christmas time, was down to about -17 here. She sleeps in a kennel full of old duvets, and the kennel is in a larger shed (farm building, not wooden). She is shut in there at night, and has the run of the farm during the day, never tethered.

I have three farm-cum-guard dogs. Two GSDs and a Rip (Bouvier hound cross) he came with the farm when we bought it.

My dogs live in the breezeway between the house and the garage, they are primarily guard dogs so I need them close to the house.

All a farm dog needs is somewhere to sleep, the usual food and water, vet care and human company and attention, same as any other dog, farm dogs have a great life. The only difference between my dogs and house dogs is that mine are frequently wet, muddy and often stink of skunk.

Get a GSD, loyal, trainable, good guard dogs, good with people they know but look the part to those they don't, they have a double coat so can live out easily (mine have a run each, with a roof, and a kennel each) and you have your Auntie CC to hand if you need any help :)

We have a border terrier cross poodle! He is small, scruffy and very loud! He gets to sleep in the kitchen but is outside any other time. He is geat for letting us know if anyone is about, and everyone loves him, he can be a bit hyperactive though so we put him away if any children are about. He craves company and loves being on the yard, luckily we have outdoor cats which he plays with and is currently sleeping in the sun with a yard cat on his back!
