I mean on their own on a yard/field with no other horses. I currently have three at home - 2x 15.2 riding horses and a 26" mini as a companion for when one is taken out. No other horses around.
I am struggling with time keeping both in ridden work, and someone is interested in buying one of them. Seems like the sensible idea, but I am worried the horse I keep will become unsettled. Obviously they are herd animals, and it just doesn't seem like two is much of a herd!
My companion pony is super, she will not be in the slightest bit bothered when I take other horse out for a hack or if I'm out for the day at a show. She calls when we come back, but that's all.
But my other horse and the horse that may be sold are best buds. If I take one out for a hack or out to a comp and leave the other behind, there is no issue so no separation anxiety. But the other always comes back.
I think I might be worrying over nothing, but just wanted other opinions and experiences of a little herd of two?
