who rode when they were pregnant?

I am currently 24w.

I didn't ride from about 7-16w as I was so so sick.. Went for a bimble at about 14 weeks and threw up.. leant over as much as I could but still got his shoulder, poor pony!!

I tried again at about 17w and I was in agony post ride... I had SPD wit previous pregnancies but much later. It kicked it off this time and I haven't been able to ride since. :(

Luckily for me I share Ponio with my son, who is managing to ride 3-4x per week, so it's not too bad, and lazybum ponio thinks a bit of a break is lovely. He has spent all of half term, playing- gymkhana, jumping, bareback and silly games and they seem to have both had a whale of a time.

I only rode to 12 weeks as I had a threatened miscarriage then - nothing to do with riding - so my OH said he wasn't happy with me riding any more and I agreed. Around 30 weeks I would walk my horse off after someone had exercised him but by then my bump was far too big to do anything other than walk and dismounting was impossible unless I swung my leg over the front of then saddle! With my second pregnancy I rode but didn't jump. At 3 months I went to a show with my son on a lead rein for a couple of classes, including jumping then showed 2 youngsters in hand, the next day I miscarried and I often wonder if I did too much running about the day before.

I rode through 6 pregnancies. Just hacking and popping an occasional log, not competing. The pony I had at the time was a little sod, who had me off from time to time, but was only 13.3hh, so not too far to fall.
With all of my babies, they were born 10 days or so late, and I stopped riding when the contractions started, well after my due date.

I found the benefits vastly outweighed the negatives; having good stomach and PV muscles supported my back and pubic bones, and I was generally quite fit and healthy right through.
I did have to adapt my dismount to a bit of a flying leap to avoid squashing the bump.

I rode up until 8 months pregnant with my first daughter, but it was on my tried and tested little horse. I knew him inside out and trusted him implicitly. I sold my other loopy horse to my sister-in-law the moment I found out I was expecting. Way too crazy.

I didn't ride at all during my two subsequent pregnancies. My priorities changed and my self-preservation kicked in.

I've ridden when I've been pregnant, I carried on pretty much as normal as I only hack, funride and gymkhana. I didn't have any falls. I have however lost all my pregnancies (before 12 weeks). I've been told that riding has had no bearing on this. I'm currently undecided about what I would do if I can get pregnant again, I hope to ride but don't know if I will. One of mine is ride and drive so I'm thinking about driving her instead.

I rode up until 3mths but stopped after nearly having a fall and I was also beginning to show which made me feel a bit more as if I was putting my baby at risk. I also felt really sickly and weak through my pregnancy so that was another factor in stopping. My mare is a big girl and it's a long way to fall so my instructor started riding her each week instead and I stuck to lunging on the days she wasn't ridden.

I'd probably do the same next time. I certainly wouldn't ride after 3/4mths when I would be starting to show.

I rode up to 3 months, and actually played my last game of polo just before my 12 weeks scan.

I actually only gave up because I had awful morning/all day sickness and just terrible, but it cleared up in the 2nd trimester and I felt good again, but by that point my ponies were roughed off and in the field (getting fat like me!)

To be honest, I don't think I'd ride in another pregnancy - I think having my daughter, and realizing how lucky I am, my priorities have changed. That's not to disrespect anyone who choose to ride, it's a very personal decision.

I currently 23w and may have had my last hack. I stopped jumping at 18w and dressage at 12w but I was still hacking around. I went out on Sunday and it was just really uncomfortable. Beau is a total star but really bouncy and I just couldn't cope (plus it made me really need a wee!!). I may have the odd pootle but maybe not!

I rode to 37 weeks, just hacking, light schooling, the odd dressage test. I kept thinking I'd stop when I felt physically uncomfortable but never really did. Was lucky as had uncomplicated pregnancy and didn't get that big. Also had rare and amazing horse.

Not sure if I would do the same again. Still have same horse and probably would proceed along same lines but hard to say really. I don't think i was particularly gung-ho in my attitude to riding while pregnant but perhaps didn't appreciate the stakes in the way I do now I've had a baby ... which is not a criticism of anyone's choices, more an admission of how much having a child changed my personal outlook.

I rode until 37 weeks, that was my last planned ride, but my waters went that night and daughter was born the next day, rode a horse that I trusted, I also did a sponsored 20 mile ride at 5 months gone, would I do it again, probably if I was younger and fitter, but at 50 my baby days are over and my daughter is now 22...

I rode to 7 months. My OH didnt want me jumping though (I would have done otherwise) so I did dressage competitions up to the 7 months too (I novice evented up to 3 months until I found out). The only reason I stopped was because my horse seriously injured himself messing about in the field. I had morning sickness quite a bit so I just tried to choose events that weren't crack of dawn ;) I dont regret it one bit, its what kept me sane. My doctor and 2 of my nurses who did my scans prior all told me they rode during their own pregnancies!
