I had one very damp neddy today after only about half an hour of not very strenuous work, and with the temperature I think I'll be clipping tomorrow. Anyone else done their first clip yet?

Yep me!today I did a chaser clip on daughters pony as she was having a XC lesson this afternoon.good job I did too, he was dripping after half an hour in this heat even though he's very fit.wish I had done a full clip now!

Not quite yet . . . although Kal is definitely growing his winter coat, he's very fine-coated and isn't even close to woolly yet . . . but I don't think we'll make it to November which is when we typically do the first clip. I'm thinking mid-late October for us.

F is getting very sweaty after a decent schooling session now, but his coat isn't really that thick and fluffy yet.

I'm hoping to go another week or two before clipping, but won't be much longer.

Yep. Gave horse a blanket clip as he was supposed to go to a competition last week but he was lame on the day so didn't go!

Yep. Sorry no pics, but clipped out my 18 yo IDXTB today. He's already very fluffy (think need to plough, not groom after rolling in any mud patch! - mind you, he is a mud monster) and needs sponging off under the saddle and girth after only his regular exercise.

He also has early stage Cushings, so wanted to keep him comfy.

Took off the lot, groomed and then hot-towelled to get the grease out. He's now feeling much more chipper and we'll see how much fun tomorrow morning's hack is ... ;)

PS He's feeling comfy, but I still have itchy horse hair under my eyelids. HATE clipping!

Two been hunter clipped in the last coup,e of days and two will have a blanket clip tomorrow. It has definitely warmed up and they have been sweating on very little wok.

I planned to, but my mare is restricted to walk for the next 5 week or so, and despite being fluffy she was only a little warm after an almost hour hack yesterday, so I think I'll leave her! Maybe beard, bib and belly for my sanity as she's so hairy.
And new horse is a TB so no need to clip!

Not yet, am hoping to hold off until after my holiday next month although that may not happen, will see how the one fares after a schooling session tomorrow!

My daughter is desperate to clip her horses (she loves clipping!) but none of them have any coat to clip at the moment (including her "under control" Cushings TB mare)! Rest assured those clippers will be whirring away a soon as a stray hair is visible!!!

Clipped the big boy on Thursday. The mare will wait another month or so. She had to be sedated and I only want to do it twice over the winter. Wondering have cross country schooling will go on Tuesday as temp in twenties ???? .........

Cob X needs clipping very soon, her gorilla costume is fast growing back and she's getting very sweaty even at the sight of a hill... Poor girl, think she'll have a chaser or low trace clip this year as her winter coat really is a force to be reckoned with :D

I should be clipping now but I can't face it today. The more I put it off though, the more the yaklike coat will keep sprouting. It does my back in trying to get under the large furry belly. Maybe I should just splash out and get some young whippersnapper to do it for me.

I refuse to clip the racehorses before the last Perth race meeting of the season and that's next Wed/Thur. I really should clip my show shetlands for next year but I still have a show or 2 planned for one of them that I don't want her clipped for.

Not yet, I've bought some clippers this year rather than borrowing some. Should be here by Wednesday so shall be clipping Snowy next weekend as he resembles a yeti. My horse is ok for now but will have a blanket clip October time, not sure I'll get much past the first weekend though!

Clipped yesterday as it was 22C and I was going on a fun ride. Even with a trace clip, he still came back frothy! Also, still out at night so if I school in the evening then wash off, he will take ages to dry with a winter coat. So, trace clip and rug on miserable wet days like today. I'll do a blanket clip later on, trace clip was just a quick option yesterday as easier to get neat lines!

clipped one of mine two weeks ago ( Fjord mare who is doing lots of fast work and off eventing next weekend) and my boy on Saturday ( full clips all round!) don't normally clip quite this early but seems easier to take it off now than fight with a full coat in a months time. both are perfectly happy, in fact, it was so warm here last night , that I turned them both out in just fly rugs!
