How tall are you and whats the smallest pony you have ridden?
Personally i am 5ft10 and 10st i haven't ridden anything smaller than 13.2hh since being an adult!

My daughters loan pony, a stocky, traditional old fashioned type 11.2hh section a has been taking the mick recently with bucking, and i wanted a friend to sit on him to do 10 mins schooling. Friend is around 8st and 5ft4. Am thinking she wont be heavy for him? infact i don't think i would be too heavy either as balanced, but my legs are so long they would be touching the ground! lol

So those of you over 5ft8 whats the smallest pony you have ridden and a pic would be good!

me 5 ft 9 60 kg my horse 14.3hh standardbred - smallest I have ridden is a 13hh welsh sec a with skinny little legs and she went round a lovely course of jumps without batting an eyelid =D

My friend and I swapped while hacking the other day, hers is 14h and I'm 5'9 and 14+st, made no bones about carrying me at all. Obviously wouldn't do it for hours but for a short time he was fine.

I'm 5'8" and haven't ridden anything under 14hh as an adult. DH is 6ft2" and and doesn't normally ride under 15hh as his legs dangle but he has had a lesson on a 14.2hh cobby type and had a short pootle on a 13.2hh NF!

I'm 5'8" 64kg (about 9st 10) and smallest pony i've ridden is a stocky 12.2hh. Yes the look on some peoples faces when they saw it wasn't a child riding was a picture.:D:D

I'm 5ft9/5ft10 and 8 stone - I ride (and jump!) anything from a shetland upwards...actually, the last show I went to I won my jumping class on a shetland! :)

Some pictures...this is a 39" (iirc) shetland...he seems happy enough, although I do look big on him, unsurprisingly, I dont ride him often.

I did resize but they seem to not be cooperating :/

5'9, ride 14hh highlands, backed Dae when he was nearer 13,2. I've ridden natives in that size bracket, but wouldn't ride anything skinny sub 15hh or native below 13,2.

I'm just 5'8, smallest I've ridden was a little 12.1hh. I say ridden but fallen off would have been more accurate seeing as she liked to dig in her heels at speed and there was nothing to her so I just flew over her head :P I am only about 7.5 stone though so perfectly fine to ride little ones, I just look ridiculous :P I look small on my 15.3hh mare though because she's such a chunky beast :P

I'm 5'8", I wouldn't ride anything under 14hh (or anything fine under 15.2hh) at my current weight but am happy on anything reasonably solid from that height up.

ETA - the smallest pony I've ridden at this height was 13hh!

17st and ride my Falabella daily. Jumping is our favourite discipline. Unfortunately his back is now so dipped his belly knocks the jumps over. I'm sure his backs only dipped from old age though.

my current ride! shes 14.1/14.2 and im 5'7 (im starting the gym next week too as i need to drop 1.5 stone for a wedding ! - im not overweight but would do my horse a massive favour lol)!

i have really long leg's for my body, and do feel big sat on her but i think ponies are more fun :)

I'm 5ft8 and hover around the 7st 5lbs area. I used to ride (and compete!!!!) our 10.2hh shetland, and I sometimes have the joy of schooling naughty ponies and keeping them in line for their much smaller owners!

My 6ft friend rode my 14.2hh arab mare a few times. If pony was going too fast (happened quite a lot) she could just put her feet down on the ground to slow up. Played hell with the soles of her boots though. :)

I'd love to be smaller so I could ride ponies all the time. I am 5'10 and just under 10 stone. I used to regularly ride a 13.3hh section D a few years ago when I was half a stone lighter. But I will get on most horses over 15hh unless they are exceptionally fine.
