Whose horses are still out that are in for the winter?

My two are still out overnight and hopefully will be until the end of the month. Last year they came in earlier as Welina cut her leg and by the time she was allowed back out, they all had to come in at night.

My boy is still out, along with all his friends. We've still got one more field of decent grass that they can move into before they need to come in, but if it gets too wet and boggy will come in before that so the ground doesn't get ruined!

Mine is out but that's only because he's still at his 'Summer' yard. Next week he'll be clipped and then I'll be bringing him home where he can be in at night. I get quite excited about the prospect of having him home but I'm sure it will be short lived :p :D

Our 2 hunters are clipped and still out with the others who live out. Winter is long enough to be stabled so as long as it's dry and not desperately cold, they can stay out, however long that might be. I just change the rugs depending on what the weathers doing. Last week, they were out overnight with nothing on, at the moment, they're wearing full neck medium weights overnight and taking a view on the daytime weather before changing anything in the day

Mine is still out. She will stay out until the clocks change and then I think she can come in for a few hours in the day but I'd like to keep her out overnight as long as possible as she gets a bit stressy in her stable in the morning. As soon as the first person on the yard arrives she starts fussing for her breakfast, so I figure if she stays out and come in at say 3pm for feed and hay and then goes out after I've ridden in the evening that will avoid the stress.

We might not be able to do that all year but we'll see how we get on.

There are always some horses out at our place as the liveries generally come in at night and the school horses come in during the day so she'll have company whatever we do.

Mine is out. Moving yards soon so I have a choice to leave her out until the beginning of Nov. Or bring her in straight away, I might just bring her in straight away and get her into a set routine. Shes had alot of routine changes recently and shes a bit stresset poor pony :(

My boy is still out and will stay out until 1st week of November (planned) but if the weather does what everyone is saying at the end of this month I might be bringing him in earlier!

i usually leave it till the end of month when clocks change. but if we r due early snow or early frosts im bringing them in a bit earlier x

I used to work shifts, 24hr+ etc. It is hard when you've got horses, being organised, relying on others. On my days off, I used to help others out, to repay them and also make all my nets up for the week etc! I do love sitting on their banks at night, with a cuppa tea and having a chat with them!

I can see getting the help of others on the yard and repaying in kind is the way forward. However, so far I haven't really got to know the others very well (if at all) with it being summer and the horses being out. I really have to wait until they're all in to work it out, which doesn't feel good, I'd rather have a plan in place in advance!

One of the problems with my past health problems (35 years of severe horse allergy) is that none of my friends or my daughter are horsey so I'm having to make new horsey pals or train up the existing ones! My daughter's keen to learn, but of course in her childhood she never got the chance to go near horses because of her Mum's health. :(

My WBxTB is, and unrugged and living out 24/7 :eek::eek::eek: :D

I might take pity on her and pop her into her Amigo lite XL rug later tho. But she wont need a thicker rug until it goes below 10° at night. So far (in our part of Devon) it hasn't done that yet. I'm trying to encourage mine to grow a bit of winter coat before I clip her (then she'll be rugged, obviously).

Only a few people at our yard are bringing in at night at the moment. Last year, the whole yard were in at night by the middle of September.
Markie is clipped and has only had a lightweight on at night until today! This morning, I got up to Autumn, brisk wing and hints of drizzle. We're lucky as our YO only 'makes' us bring in at night when the fields are really, really wet. They do grass livery too, so, if you want to be out 24/7, but keep a stable for emergencies, then you have to use the fields further away from the yard.
I intend to keep the big lad out as long as possible. I'm sure he knows more confinement is approaching as he really doesn't want to be in at the moment, even rushing and leaving his grub! During the summer he spent 5am to midday in, and I had to drag him out. Currently, he'll barge past me as soon as I open the stable door, ill-mannered Cobnobasauraus!

My lad comes in at night all year to keep him as slim as possible by getting him off the grass for a while. But he goes out in the day every day of the year come what may! He is toughing up at the moment as the weather has turned and he has not grown much coat yet, but he needs to be tough as he will be un-rugged again this year too. Mean mother!!

I have to be off my field in December and January so horse goes into livery (:)) for at least those two months but I put it off as close to 30th November as I can to save mucking out! Having no lights is a bit of a pain but I'd rather poo pick than muck out . . . . .
Mine's out unrugged and getting woollier by the day but she is as fat as a mole and has plenty of natural shelter.
