Why are dressage judges 'anonymous'?

My point is that I shouldn't have to make a phone call and ask - the information should be made available to me so I can decide whether to enter or not immediately? playing devils advocate here really, its obvious nothing is doing to change any time soon :)
 
Very much doubt it'll change at all lol, far more important issues for bd members if the forum is anything to go by. ... bronze/silver/gold, qualifying ratios, Mark schemes, rider group, the damn website (!) ... don't think arranging the judges yonks in advance is even on the radar :D
 
Our venue lists the judges on the times, and on the scoreboard on the day. The judges are no "secret", although bare in mind that even though they tend to be booked months in advance, it can (and often does!) all change up until the day before the competition, so venues may not want to list the judges in case of this. There's been times I've been frantically phoning up judges the afternoon before a BD competition because we've been let down very last minute. Would you be annoyed if you entered thinking you'd be judged under a certain person, and then arrive and find a different judge- perhaps one you don't "like"- has taken their place due to a last minute emergency?

Yeah thats another reason I cannot be bothered to compete BD!
 
If I was the venue I would be tempted for financial reasons to not disclose the judges name. Some people won't go to certain judges, so if the venue doesn't disclose who it is, they may get more entries than they would if they did say who it is. That could be the reason.
