Why do people have to be so nasty ?

I can sympathise with both sides here - in one respect the dogs should have been under complete control and if that means being on a lead then so be it. On the other the driver had obviously seen the animal so should have reacted accordingly as you would for a deer or fox that ran out. On the subject of having horses under control on the road - I reckon they are so unpredictable that you can never really know whether they'll have an "episode" completely out of the blue or not. So are we all supposed to just stay within the bounds of our property just for those "what if" moments?

The OP should have had the dog under control! She is endangering the dogs lives as well as any one else who uses the road by leaving the dogs loose. It's irresponsible people like her who give other dog and horse owners a 'bad' name.
However the driver shouldn't have been rude.

Sorry but I own a spooky horse and I ride it on the road but I take that risk and he is under my care so my responsibility

However, I would like drivers to take due care and attention when passing any horse and rider.

Yes that woman was v.nasty and impatient for continuing to drive when she had already seen the dog but the dogs should have been on a lead to start with - especially the older one who could not get out of the way quickly.

no, but I'd like too. I can't belive that the OP posted that she leads two horses and has her two dogs loose whilst walking down a narrow lane and wonders why there is nearly an accident.

Anybody driving down a single track lane should be going slowly, and whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation, I can't understand the mentality of someone who would drive over a dog on purpose. That is awful.
