Why do people have to be so nasty ?

Quote "True, but some get closer than others"

Ooh poor them, anyway love to carry this on, but the truth is you bore me and I prefer sitting in a traffic jam on the A38 trying to get home from work.

Try to have a pleasant evening, now for you that could be hard.

Oh Shilasdair! I would have thought you would have picked up on the 'wright' rather than 'write'. Is it selective grammatical and spelling correction that you adhere to?!
smile.gif
Would you be interested in reading my dissertation!? (Not just for the fact that it is about Mussolini, but also for your grammatical input!)

With regards to OP, it was not the world's best idea, but I know that we all do silly things. I would expect that woman was not in a great mood, does seem a little bit over the top though (no pun intended!).

Yes, I'm 503 years old and time is running out.

But I must ask what the above means? (I get the bint bit). Not really in the mood to google inarticulate forum speak 'ATM' ( I get that one).

S - Are you a professional dissertation reader, or is time just on your side? Seriously, 10 000 words of political garble will be heading your way. (My mother has decided to emigrate, and therefore transcontinental dissertation reading can take a bit of time).

Must get back to essay...please, no more funny responses, I stop working at dusk.

Shilasdair!! Like is a stative verb! Never mind what the literate people at McDonald's would have us believe, you can't be 'liking' OR 'loving' anything!! Anyway, who are you trying to kid? As Satan you are pure bile and venom!!

[/ QUOTE ]

And yet I know a lot about you. For example, I know that you re-read the post above very carefully prior to pressing 'Continue'.

What is a stative verb? In terms of its in the wrong tense for the sentence? What I mean is, it has a conditional element i.e it can end, whilst a normal verb has an unconditional time line? Wait, no, its an adjective used in place of a noun. Hmmmm.

What is a stative verb? In terms of its in the wrong tense for the sentence?

[/ QUOTE ]
A state or stative verb is, in the simplest terms, one that is not an action. Off the top of my head, other stative verbs are
know, believe, think (as in have an opinion), understand, need, want, love, like and hate (I'm sure I've forgotten loads) stative verbs can't (or shouldn't!) be used in the continuous form as in "I'm liking that" "I was understanding" etc. HOWEVER, in practice, people DO use them that way.

I'd also heard that 'however' should never be the first word in a sentence.
