Waffled a lot!
We have horrible wet clay land and constantly fought mud rash and cracked heals battles. We built a great hardcore turnout for winter so they go out on that all day and come in at night. Our fields are also very exposed and there is no shelter, which wouldn't help either. If we moved to somewhere with perfect fields and good shelter I'd love them to live out. However we have probably conditioned them to coming in over the years and made them soft, so we get the queuing at the gate scenario too.
