Keep eating mud when i turn him out?? Is it to do with minerals or something like that! By the way he wont touch any mineral licks!

He may be after plant roots, some of them contain a great deal of 'energy' and others are 'good herbs'. Then again he may just be after salt.

My horse used to eat mud. Now I give him some Codlivermins, its a multi-vit supliment that you put in their feed. He doesnt eat mud anymore and he's got a super shiney coat!

One of mine use to do that!! He started having red cell, and I popped a mineral lick in his manger and a rock salt lick too. He was obviously lacking something as he stopped once he had the above, cut out the red cell, he gets through a lick a month though!!

there are alot of vits and mins in mud so hes probably after them.

I've always been told it's down to mineral deficiency.

could just be a greedy beggar though

and at this time of year with little grass, mud'll do!

I know he is lacking in something but wondered if anyone knew what or what minerals or vits i can give him! I thought it might be salt but he wont eat it in his tea or eat a lick!

Louis does that too, it's not a lack of minerals in his case though...just a lack of grass! When there is no grass he resorts to mud and the fence!

my horse then maybe due to lack of grass as he is only out one a week maximum as the feilds are very bad still

I would give him a supplement if not sure l always ask my feed merchant.
