You know exactly what you are looking for when you buy a new horse and come home with completely the opposite? I was looking for a new horse to move up the levels on, wanted to JRN, so I wanted a consistent PN/N horse, about 11/12yo, preferably a mare and bay or black. Under no circumtances was the horse to be grey or have white legs. We went to look at a 12yo chesnut horse on this yard and came home with a 7yo, grey gelding, who'd done nothing and was well out of our price range, after one viewing and not even sitting on the chesnut! Best thing we ever did though!
Oh, and horses are never how they're described? Why is that!

I went to local sales once to hopefully buy an elderly gelding, about 13h, very quiet, for a friend's niece. Hoped I would find an ex riding school type . Spotted a pretty little pony, 5 year old, mare, unbacked, tried to bite and kick me! Bought her, got her home and discovered she was in foal too!

She did turn into a star though!

I too went to the sales once with the intention of buying a 5-10 yo riding club pony. Didn't see anything but were still there for the last lot - a 9 month old hairy thing, absolutely petrified, chased round the ring as they couldn't catch her. My friend noticed that the only person bidding was the meat man...so guess what happened? She came home with us! Took us 2 weeks to catch her at home! She turned out to be a cheeky little cow. Bad news is she was put on loan to someone in Wrexham as a 5 yo who promptly did a runner and left the horse at livery where the YO wont let her go until the bill is paid

You can go and remove your pony, and YO will have to take whoever owes the money to court for it.

Arrive with box, proof of ownership, advise police that you are picking up your property and ask them to attend in case of a breach of the police.

Go do it - legally, the YO can't retain your pony

We did that, we spoke to the Police in our town who told us to go and do it but the YO rang Wrexham police and we were told that we would be arrested if we went into the field to get the horse - the YO refused to bring her out. Other than that the police wont do anything as they say it's a 'civil' matter. We did try to coax the pony over the fence(not a good idea but we were desperate), the police called us and told us we'd be arrested for stealing the pony, I replied with 'what? for stealing my own pony?' the reply was 'errr yes....' glad I don't have to rely on Wrexham police to keep the peace!
