Why you should never try and squeeze in a hack before work...

I had time today to go for a short hack around the farm before going into work and then driving 100miles for a training course in Swindon starting this evening. Daisy was clearly not impressed at me leaving her for three days because she jodged about like a nutter. As we went up a muddy path in the woods she tried to aviod the path and go through the undergrowth. I got my right leg caught on a fallen tree branch and it pulled me off. To add insult to injury she didn't much fancy being led back to the yard, got bored half way back and galloped off putting her foot through the reins I only bought her on Sunday.

I had to ditch plans of going into work for a few hours because it would mean extra driving and the pain in my leg is too bad. I've bad arnica gel on it and taken some ibrupofen, any other tips? I have to be able to drive for 2hours leaving at about 3pm this afternoon.

Ah, just dont bother going, Swindon is a sh*tty place

Just joking, LOL!
Could you get the train, and claim expenses? Or is the course not in the middle of Swindon? Sounds very painful, and driving probably isnt the best thing...

It's always the same, when you think "I'll just have a quick hack/school/lunge", the buggers throw you a curve ball and you then spend HOURS trying to sort it out!!!

I wouldn't drive if you can possibly avoid it - can you get a train or a coach? Or better still, rearrange the course.

Hope it gets better soon!

I didn't cold hose because I had to drive home and didn't want a wet foot but the arnica gel I put on it was Daisy's. She has a much better first aid kit than I do

. it's got some sweetcorn on it as i type. I did seriously consider borrowing a friend's ice pack at the yard and then holding it in place with a stable bandage but was too embarrassed to ask her for one.

Have you got any Ice Tight or anything in your equine first aid box? I put it on myself now when get hurt

works a treat and saves having to hold ice/peas/sweetcorn on leg

My horse fell with me team chasing a couple of years ago and I landed really heavily on my arm. I then had to drive that night from Wiltshire to Essex for work which wasn't a lot of fun.

If you really don't feel you can drive, can you not let work know you're sick and rearrange the course?
