wierdest horse names youve come acroos!:)

I went to the heavy horse riding centre in Cumbria and rode a Clydesdale called Luggs! He had huge ears! I loved him :D

My niece named her goldfish 'bugger' when she was about 3 years old! My sister didn't want to make a huge deal about it in case it prompted her to use the word in normal conversation so it stuck!:o :eek:
 
One of my friends has a mare called Smellie - cos when she was a foal she was a dirty beastie! My husband used to ride a pony in the '60s called Gayboy - couldn't get away with that one now. Another friend has a lovely mare called Chicken - she's over 16hh. The local RS had a stallion called Colt. Somebody competes at the local RC on a mare called Filly.

When I was at college there was a gelding called Shannon and I've also known a few horses with human names, Dan, Ryan, Martha, Ethel, Elliott, lots of George's, an Andrew, a Roger, Joe, Jack, Bruce, several Bobs or Bobbys, a pony called Pat and even a few Hugos.

My mare is called Polly and her field mate is called Molly. There used to be a youngster in her field called Dolly, but she's changed fields. This was purely coincidental :D
 
My first pony was originally named Foal-kin - apparently as his dam was called Mare-kin. I 'adjusted' it to Falcon.

Currently freelancing at an RS where there is a pony called Poppy 2. I asked if there had been a Poppy 1 and was told "no". ????????

Had a horse briefly on loan called Russel and I rode a pony named 'Pig' once. Felt a bit sorry for her TBH.
 
Funniest one I heard was a horse called 'On Business'. Our old field masters Dad I think was then able to say quite legitimately of a days hunting that he was 'out on business'!
 
I guess Darach's a bit unusual...

TinkyWinky was a low point, I reckon - at an RS, obviously. J was called Curly when I bought him, which is awful :o J's registered as Jasper and always called J, but has been competed as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is probably up there with "pretty wierd" :D
 
One friend has another "Spud" and a different friend had an ex-racer called "BIF" which was the acronym for "Big Ignorant ******", a name I didn't think he really deserved. One woman I worked for had one called "Tuesday" because it came on a Tuesday, she had a dog called "Friday" for a similar reason!

I went to look at a horse called Derek. When his owner bought him he was called Nigel. I don't know which is worse!

We had a cat called Pig. He had a corkscrew curly tail and the first thing everyone who met him would say was 'he looks just like a pig'. So Pig it was :D
 
We have a Banana (palomino gelding) on the yard.... strangely suits him though

Mines called Robbie which really suits him but i dont like human horse names.

There is a breeder round here that gives all they foals human names, so its "*prefix* Mike" or "*prefix*Lewis" which i find odd but its just what they do
 
as a child in deepest cornwall in the 1970`s i used to ride a cob called Biryanni and his best mate was called Chapati. I jest not. Back then i had no idea what the names actually meant and no one cared to enlighten us.
 
My old boy was called wheelbarrow!!
Though shortened to wheelie which suited him and I often think that he was named wheelie first as he was pretty good at them !
 
We have had a few at work that are a bit normal. We had Brown, Red, Gray (he's mine now), Porridge, Bear, Sugar, Lego, Mumgo, Cello, Outrage etc. To be fair it's mostly part of their racing names though some aren't.

We have one called Skipper who I named and I had to find him a name before I said the inevitable. He is called The Starboard Bow. I couldn't say what first popped into my head until Skipper had been found and stuck.

There's Klingons on The Starboard Bow ...
