If anyone on here or someone you know needs help with their animals, horses or other species, due to self isolating, illness, whatever, as a bored, animal-mad 19yo I will gladly help if I can (obviously location permitting!) With no judgment whatsoever.? (If 2020 has taught me anything it's that shit happens.)

If anyone else feels up to this maybe comment on this thread so we can have a resource of helpers people can go to if they're stuck and have otherwise run out of options.

What a lovely idea Chinchilla. I've already done a stint for a friend (along with another friend, we alternated mornings and evenings) whose daughter tested positive on Boxing day and whose mother (normal back up) had (perfectly legally) spent Christmas day with them so the whole family had to isolate. We had 6 horses to look after between 2 of us for 8 days which is not a lot really, but when you're used to only doing your 2 and you have a turnout and bring in rota between 4 of you that suddenly goes down to 2 it's a bit of a shock to the system!

As you say, at the moment plan B or even C can be affected so I'm happy to help in my area if needs be. It would have to be very early or late due to work so may not suit some who have set turnout / bring in times but if I can help, I'm happy to.

That is such a lovely, kind idea for a thread. Unfortunately I am not in a position to help at all because of the broken leg - my back-up is somewhat over-used atm. Our fingers are crossed that she doesn't get ill too. There is a plan C but that person would struggle if anything happened that wasn't straightforward. We do have a Plan D, which is a bit nebulous currently. The problem is that often Plans B,C and D are all inter-related.

Great idea - very kind of you. I am not in the UK, so no help to people on this forum, but I did think this week that I would make an effort to do one thing every day to help someone out. Today I poo-picked the paddock of one lady at our yard, she had not asked me to but she mentioned last week that she was snowed under at work, and I have seen that in the last days she is rushed and stressed. Since she has not done her paddock in about a week, when I know that she usually does it daily, I thought it would be a nice surprise for her tomorrow to find it tidied up and water buckets scrubbed:)

Winters100 - as someone who's normally in that position that's a lovely thing to do. I once had a mucking out fairy and it was lovely getting to the yard to find both boxes mucked out.

I'm in Somerset and am happy to help if anyone's stuck. I'm on the border with Wiltshire. I've worked as a groom so am used to handling horses other than mine and mucking out / hay netting up to 25 in one shift (although I stopped that job over a year ago now so may be a bit slower than I was).

Too late to edit so I'll add where I am here - it would be helpful wouldn't it . I'm just west of Cardiff, could cover Cardiff to Bridgend short term.

Am pretty crazy busy between work and my own herd but can always make time in a crisis ?

You could always get up earlier in the morning :p

I think my nearest fellow HHOers are Cortez and MrsJ, so probably I'm not much use but I'm always willing to help out.
