I'm late to this and not read it all - scared to as I find the wanting a steady, sensible, easy going lad/lass light tickle is steadily turning into a noticable itch and I really can't afford another one and I have one who needs his education finishing before I do anything else (with boball facilities or knowledgeable support that's not happening!) - but I hope you find the one lass.

Lameness work up again today. Still lame on right on the lunge. Sound in straight lines which is better but than before but this isn't just going to settle particularly quickly. I asked about treatment options and how we know we are doing the right things without an MRI and he said rest was the main treatment for soft tissue injuries. Some treatments can speed up healing. Also some treatments (eg steroids jabs to the joint) can reduce pain but if that then means you start working them too early it can make long term prognosis worse. So he told me not to stress about the MRI. It would be good to get a diagnosis so we know a lot more about her likwly progress/future. But the long term prognosis is not really affected by the options that we might go for with an MRI. She is still in the system and we will probably do it in due course but I've got my head around the fact that this year is written off now. Which it is pretty much anyway from a competition point of view so at least she has timed this well!

I flipping hate adverts showing people standing on the horse. Just why? Unless you’re in a vaulting team, show me some decent ridden/conformation shots.

Theres a beautiful palomino mare at my yard for sale, too green for me, the colour is quite bizarre to look at.

It does nothing for me, not my type, but could suit you as it is proven, a useful size, sensible price, I do know someone nearby who could probably take a look if you wanted, if they liked it I could go and give a more serious once over, find out the BE name as a starting point and let me know if you want it checked out.
 
He could be fun, find out more, send me his name so I can take a look at his record and I can probably arrange to get him seen early next week, if he is liked by her, not dissimilar in level to you so should get a good idea of suitability, how straightforward it is to ride, then I could go but going together is not possible, everything needs extra planning at the moment usually it is so easy to get in a car and take someone with you to look.

229423 - sounds like it's done a lot on paper but wasn't convinced it didn't look quite sharp and hot in the video.

Btw - I got an experienced, older horse a couple of years ago to get me back out and having fun eventing. Best thing I ever did. He more than did his job and I sold him for more than I bought him for a couple of years later and he went to the most amazing home and is still giving the owners a huge amount of pleasure.

Quite possibly - Especially the bay. The grey I interpreted as having not done a lot recently, or maybe with this owner or something, and so had been reduced accordingly. Would need to see it's record and hear what the owners say really.

I could imagine at the moment some things might go more cheaply than they would have otherwise as well.
 
They look fab Squeak but I'm also suspicious about the prices. Might do some digging. Rich bored owners who just sell cheap can't be that common compared to the dishonest sellers hoping a glittering career blinds you to the current state of the horse.....

If it's any hope I bought my schoolmaster who had many wins and placings at 100 and 90 and competed at novice for a lot less than 5k and he was being sold because the then owner thought he was boring... He was a fabulous horse!

ETA - He did have a sarcoid and windsuck which would have reduced his price anyway but he was still ridiculously cheap. I think for her that was what he was worth as he didn't do the job she wanted but to me he was worth his weight in gold.

It doesn’t look expensive - it’s wired (possibly got underlying issues?) and people who want a 12yo coming back down the levels generally don’t want, or can’t ride one side of a buzzy one like that. There is not a real market for that horse.
 
I think you were very lucky, Squeak. Perhaps I will be too. Some people sell for way under the asking price because they can easily afford to and just want the horse gone. Others fail to spot the potential in their horses. Others sell cheap in desperation.

But most know what they are sat on and want a fair price. I have a friend who has bought 3 bargains in a row with good records and 5 stage vettings. All 3 broke. 2 kissing spines and a tendon. So I'm wary of too good to be true horses.
