Today Chilli and I had a dressage competition. We entered the Prelim 2 and Novice 27. I had gone through my Prelim once in walk and trot. We came a respectable 4th out of a popular class

I hadn't gone through our Novice at all. Next time I will be more prepared! I made a couple of silly mistakes that could have been ironed out with more practise. Anyway, I felt that under the circumstances (lack of practise, my wonderful anxiety issues and warming up outdoors in the lovely leftovers of Mrs. Storm Doris) we did a couple of reasonable tests.
Which is why I was so pleasantly surprised when we won! Yipee, winners winners chicken dinners :eek:
This winter has been a real slog and a struggle at times both mentally and physically but I'm so pleased I decided to move Chilli to work so we could continue to work over winter. The past few months have been a real learning curve and I am so happy it all seems to be paying off.

I very much agree with the judges comments of needing to be more forward and more supple. We will get there!

This comment literally means the world to me-I have worked so hard this winter on getting her up and into the contact- Making her take me forward and reaching for the bit rather than just plonking her head down 'on the bit' and leaving her bottom doing none of the work (and she's a TB, so it's big enough to do its fair share!!) My position certainly needs work but nerves played a part in that too and I am hoping it will be better next time if I remember to relax.
Again, thank you very much x
